We are a totally different team when we play at pace.

Great latch for Kelleher in that try

    Another good try.

    Offloads everywhere.

That's another nice try. Very pretty

Our offloads in this half already feel more than the whole of 2020. XD

Larmour fully justifying his promotion to the starting team today, he's been very good.

Two good tries but the Italian defence may as well not be there.

If converted the bookies handicap beaten already.

We're way better than England v Italy 2 weeks ago.

Italy must hate Connors and Keenan already. 5 tries and a MOTM between them in 1.5 games.

Another beauty! This is what happens when you offload!

Not sure I agree on Kelleher to be honest so far

Set piece functioning and he offers a lot around the park

What exactly has he done wrong today?

better play here from Ireland but there are qualifications in relation to the quality on show from the opposition.

Backline as a whole looks dangerous.
Connors having a great game too.

Commentary is annoying, Italy are atrocious, too much praise for Ireland.

I was going to say...its great to see Ireland playing well, but its too easy.

I'll have to eat my humble pie and say that Gibson Park has been excellent so far. Wasn't a fan in the 1st 2 games but he's been really zippy in this game

Right on cue. As soon as Ireland play some good stuff, it's time to point out how bad Italy are :)

This is what happens when you play italy. We can't do this against teams with a decent defense.

And play a team that hasn't won in this competition in 50 games ffs.

Ringrose, Connors, Larmour, Stander, Keenan all motoring nicely.

Italy can be exciting sometimes in attack because of their complete lack of structure, but the shame is that they're the exact same in terms of no structure in defense so they just concede absolutely everything.

Ryan thrown across the gap there. We did the game with Beirne earlier. We've conceded multiple penalties this year for lineout shenanigans and another referee would penalise us today too.

Lazio v Bayern Munich on Tuesday night was the reason for the blue markings on the pitch today.

Could add JGP to that too. CJ in particular for me has been a machine in that half defensively. 3 turnovers I think, and constantly hitting them behind the gain line. Larmour going forward a stand out.

Funny how there was none of this “it’s Italy” stuff when France did this to them, narrative setting 😊

Ireland are playing well, but they just wouldn't get that space against anyone else in the 6Ns

As someone pointed out to me on here recently, jumping across the gap isn't an infringement.

Not getting carried away, but our movement off the ball to take advantage of getting the ball away quickly has nothing to do with Italy's poor defense.

    Great finish from Italy there.

Sexton grumpy again after his 10 minutes of happiness.

Hard to know what to make of that but Connors and Ringrose been our best performers in first half

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,341 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Larmour with a pretty feeble tackle attempt

Larmour didn't look too hot in defence that time. If he can remedy that he's a shoe in to start. But until he does Keith Earls will tend to be the caiches pick just for safety's sake

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,008 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Some sloppy tackling at the end there.

Plenty to be positive about though. Italy targeting Larmours side and making their best ground there.

He's been great going forward though to be fair to him

Meyer has been very good for Italy the last few games, in fairness to him.

Vodafone will be happy with that half time scoreline.

JGP doing well. Ringrose with a much better showing in attack. Stander the pick of the pack.

You'd imagine Lowe's side wouldn't be great either!

Look Ireland have had a good half (up to the last 2 minutes) and it is good to see good attacking shape and excellent depth in the backs. Sexton makes the team tick, especially in partnership with Ringrose at 13.

At the same time I don't think it's wrong to point out that Italy's defence is very soft.

Not gonna be too hard on Larmour for the Italy try. The real fault occurred when our two forwards, I think it was Furlong and one of Beirne/Connor, failed to stop the Italian carrier offloading. It was a two on one tackle, but both went around the midfriff and let the carrier get hands free to offload. By then the receiver is running at pace to a backpedalling Larmour.
