So it seems that Drew Harris has incorrectly labelled protesters as far left yesterday and was quick off the mark to link the events to Republicans. Is it now possible after multiple incidents for us to support the integrity of the Commissioner? It is looking more and more like a political plant that will turn understate the threats from the far right and loyalists in order to stick it to Republicans

The watermelon is hardly a reliable source to quote
Here you go... Could have typed in his name and found multiple news sites confirming that he's retracted it.

For most people when the Garda Commissioner makes a statement, people will assume he has proof and will take it as gospel. Drew Harris seems to have taken a political point scoring role with his baseless left wing involvemet remark and his remarks about SF last year which a lot of people accused him of getting involved in the political arena which he has no entitlement to do so.

I find the word clarification misleading here. It was an error not a clarification. I wonder what information he was going on the say he was of such conviction? Hardy reassuring that the leading Garda to brief the justice minister so incorrectly?

"Earlier, Minister for Justice Helen McEntee said the Garda Commissioner had clarified that far left groups at the protests were "violent republican groups" and not groups of any political persuasion."

    How did that happen?

I dont doubt he retracted it, just saoirse lining up her eventual move to SF there opposing the SCC has little relevance

Very strange that this is being linked to the Special Criminal Court.

Yes all of a sudden the groups involved doesn't matter after the wrong group was singled out. Is policing in Ireland going to be a kangaroo court variety with a Justice Minister and Garda Commissioner like this? What a bizarre comment for a justice minister to make. Gardai are injured surely they'd want to know who is responsible?

Bang of Martin Callinan and being beyond reproach alright.

Drew Harris role is supposed to be apolitical.

The protestors were people angry that their businesses and jobs have been stolen by a preventable outbreak of Covid in December.

Leftists are only delighted with perennial lockdown as they get to live it up on welfare. They are the last people to oppose lockdown, they absolutely adore it as it is perfect for their laziness.

That ship sailed a long time ago! Let's not forget his comments during the election for which he has to date supported with no evidence. Barrett summed it up correctly. The commissioner should have resigned then.

People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd-Barrett claimed Mr Harris’s comments on Friday were “an inappropriate political intervention”.

Bollocks will she join Sinn Féin.

She is right about the SSC, however.

    Awful nonsense

    How so?

Do you disagree that most radical left wingers are either unemployed or work very limited hours?

As an ardent FG supporter, I feel that Drew Harris is doing a wonderful job. I needn't elaborate further as HQ do my thinking for me.
