Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Guiness ad. The quiet and peace of the shot give me that feeling of finally finishing work after it being hectic and getting to chill.

Some facts about our fab 4 in the competition.
We have the top 4 seeded adverts playing today, so you might think the last 4 is no surprise!

Our No. 1 seed Penneys trounced Air New Zealand, Quality Street 2009, took out John Lewis 'The long wait' before knocking out Denneys.

Guinness, the No. 2 seed, saw off competition from TK Maxx's lil Goat, the Coca Cola 2006 advert, BBC One's Supporting Act and McDonald's 2020 offering- Inner Child.

Budweiser, our No. 3 seed, has seen some of the closest contests, it knocked out Kevin the Carrot- Top Gun early on, whitewashed McDonalds 'Christmas Eve' and caused devastation by knocking the Heathrow bears, then the iconic Bear and the Hare out of the competition.

CocaCola, our No. 4 seed whitewashed Doc Morris' 2020's Christmas advert, and Tesco 2013 and caused heartache before knocking out Lidl's adorable grandad :( an An Post's Let them Know.

I didn’t know we were allowed to post porn on here.

    Stat porn!!!

    eh... ok!

Either way, 2 of my favourites made the final so even though I'll vote for Guinness, if Coca cola wins I'll not be disappointed... both are worthy winners IMO.

I'll enjoy watching both again at 3pm too!!:D

Not sure I'll get online for the final so I'll just put it out there again that Coca Cola is a holiday advert and Guinness is a Christmas advert, and we're voting on Christmas ads :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,145 ✭✭✭✭Caranica

Cue edited thread title... Now we can't vote for the Christmas one :D

    It's time.  :D

    Let the battle commence. \o/

First to 8 votes. Winner must win by 2 clear votes, so if it's 7-7, must get to 9-7 and so on.

Guinness - At the home of the black stuff

So what will that be ?
The soft drink that eliminated not one but two grandads ?
Or the stout that eliminated the lil goat and the fast-food eating mum and son ?

To be honest The cornflakes ad is my favourite with Budweiser a close second and Coca Cola my third favourite :)

Just as a little distraction. Is this ad shown outside of Ireland? Every year at the start of December i share this ad on FB and as i lived in the UK for a long time , it always gets a lot of comments of love from my UK friends. I like it particularly because its all things Irish. I'd be interested to see if it would figure in a UK based tournament of the same sort?

I suspect that similar to ourselves, the UK public would be quite parochial too, when choosing their favourite ad. :D

I've seen it on TV in England & Wales when over visiting family there, up until 2019 anyway, havent been over since.

Anyway, the final is still live, Guinness needs 1 more to win, Coca Cola needs 4 more to tie it.
