My credit expires in June 2021. I basically don't make any phone calls or send texts. Data is switched off by Three as I kept loosing credit to it even though I wasn't using it. Three agent suggested to me that they would block all data.

I just use the phone to receive calls and texts and I use wi-fi for Whatsapp etc.

Will I still be able to receive calls and texts indefinitely after June 2021?

I have no intention off topping up as in June I will loose my credit which is about €10.

SIM is likely to stay active without topping up but Three reserve the right to deactivate the SIM after a year since last top up.

That's good to know so maybe I would get away with a top up in say June 2022. I basically receive calls as I said previously and after that text messages from banks, supermarket weekly offers, reminder to put bins out etc.

I use wi-fi and whatsapp all the time. Obviously Three are not making much money from me but basically I have never switched -started off with Esat Digifone then 02 took over and now Three.

This will be the first time credit will have expired for me as far as I can remember. I normally upgrade my handsets with them so that's some business for them. Night owl I think was the very original plan but a few years back they changed me to BeFree Talk.

I can't get the free 3 month's Amazon Prime Video unless I change my plan which I won't. Even the 48 €7.99 offer I couldn't justify switching too.

Surely there's something you could spend the credit on in the Google Play Store? I wouldn't just let it expire. Or donate to a likecharity.com charity of your choice.

BTW, the minimum top-up is €5 but €5 top-ups can only be bought in Three stores.

48 SIM can be kept active with 1e top up every 6 months (without buying membership each month).

Three SIMs are useful if you need to send SMS via free webtext.

I thought the free webtext was gone so that's good to know but I just checked it out and Webtext Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement both have broken links.

    Works for me....

...maybe the broken links are from old webtext.

My gripe is that people who don't use their phones alot are paying crazy rates.

The cheapest plan available seems to be with Lyca...
3 months of 300 minutes, 300 SMS and 1GB for 13.50 (4.50 per month). It's not clear if the plan can be renewed for another 3 months at same price or if it reverts to 9e. Maybe ask in the Lyca BA thread for clarification.

Got a text from Three to say I can extend the expiry date by topping up my account so I'll do that.

If I don't top up with them this week - will they take my credit?

If you have no plans to top up, rather than letting the credit be wiped from your account, you could always text donate it to charity:

    Just got the following text:-

"From Three: Don't lose your connection! Your Prepay account is about to be deemed inactive. Your service will continue. However, after a further 90 days of no chargeable usage your credit will expire. Want to stay connected? No problem, we can organise a credit reducing activity (Call, text or Data)"

Bit bizarre if you ask me. Am I meant to ring them up (not clear at all from text) and ask then they reduce my credit by a call, text or Data - very strange way to operate a business. I'd imagine a text would be the cheapest.

    Odd?
