Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Proper Gas For Outdoor Barbecue

Hi, I got rid of my old gas barbecue and want to buy a new one.

My question relates to the type of gas I should use.

I have a Flogas cylinder (see photo) and I believe it is Butane. Is this correct?

Secondly, the specification for the particular BBQ I'm interested in says that it is a Propane BBQ

Can somebody please tell me the difference and if I can use a Propane spec. BBQ with a Butane cylinder.

    Thanks,Tommy

The spec of the BBq is likely down to the size of the jets fitted in gas burner.

The manufacturer may be able to supply the correct jets for Butane, but I wouldnt bet on it.
More likely the salesperson will just tell you 'twill be grand'

Otherwise there is Not a big difference between Butane and Propane.

Why not just get a propane cylinder instead of the butane one?

Woodys will exchange Butane cylinder for a propane one. AfAIK you only have change the regulator if you want to carry on using butane. I have used both with no problem.
