No one said Kate sat on her throne every day either. The throne is ceremonial and only the monarch sits on it, but it's not used as an everyday piece of furniture.

So how does she go to the toilet? Don't tell me she has someone to do that for her as well? AT TAXPAYER'S EXPENSE!

Too posh to poo, and she doesn't get a minute to herself anyway.

Oh my word! Hugging children! Speaking to people!! Listening to someone describe a service! Chair a meeting!! Such hard work! How ever does she do it?! I meet loads of people at work every day. I treat each and every one of them with dignity and respect. I listen to them and engage with them. That’s not challenging and it’s not what makes my job difficult. Nobody briefs me on them beforehand either, doing all the background work. And I’m expected to do a damn sight more than smile, wave, shake hands and utter a few meaningless platitudes before moving on to the next person for me to meet.

That reminds me of a bit of the Oprah interview in which Harry said that he still had to fulfil his engagements no matter how he felt, he had to put on the game face and go to the engagement (I’m paraphrasing here as I can’t remember the exact words) and I remember thinking “ehhh yes Harry, that’s what the rest of us do, we get up and go to work irrespective of what’s going on in our personal lives, or whether we just don’t particularly want to go that day”. If he wants to consider his engagements work then he has to accept the reality of working life which is that you put on the game face and go do your job. The difference of course being that if the ordinary Joe soap doesn’t turn up without valid leave, there’ll be a HR and disciplinary process to be followed, but Harry won’t be put on a performance management plan or threatened with being sacked, will he? That statement made me gasp at the time- he really doesn’t have a clue what the realities of life for normal people are.

We’ve gone from “she does nothing” to “yeah she does stuff but it’s really really easy what she does, so it doesn’t count”.

I personally could not stand having to meet and socialise with countless different people day in day out. It would be my idea of hell. It isn't for every personality type and I get the impression it isn't really Will and Kate's cup of tea. I don't think it comes naturally to them but they seem to be trying to do what is required.

Could you show us who said they actually believe that ‘someone is paid to put Kate Middleton’s legs into her knickers in the morning or that she sits on a throne barking orders at people all day’, please. Because I don’t think anyone said that at all.

Leg end reject, bout 1/2 hour ago:

think it's incredibly dishonest to suggest that a member of the RF is run ragged from work, or that they are busy housewives and mothers. They have staff to help dress them FFS!

Poor pet, rushed off her feet with all that smiling and waving. I bet she can barely find the time for a colonic irrigation. Such devotion to duty.

Where did I say she has staff to put her legs in her knickers, or that she sits on a throne?

Royal engagements are hardly the equivalent of going down the mines. She doesn't have to go home and cook, clean and do laundry for the evening while hoping she has time in the morning to make the kids lunches before school.

So three visits and a meeting with staff to say thanks? You think that's work? So being driven to an event, wave, shake hands and driven home. Where is she actually doing work here?

Now your taking the piss. You’ve said that they do no work. I’ve given you three examples of what they do and I could give you 50 more.
I’m just highly amused at you constantly moving the goalposts and deciding wether a woman is actually working or not.
One minute (according to you) she does nothing all day , the next minute she does but it’s not actually work.
Sure everyone knows women don’t work. They just sit around looking pretty all day, don’t they?

No, they are taking the p1ss. What they do is not work. When is the last time someone paid you to go on a day trip? And looking pretty is pretty much all Kate Midfleton expected to do. Poised and elegant, oh what a perfect queen she'll be.

She hasn’t said what you claimed she ‘actually believed’ though. That quote doesnt back up your claim at all.

I would hate the fawning nature of it, but it’s still not hard work is it? And it doesn’t justify the adoration they get nor the luxurious lifestyle

Oh now, you underestimate her! She actually hugs children too! And I’ve seen her wave at people!! And sometimes, get this, she accepts bouquets of flowers from people but don’t worry, the effort of that doesn’t tax her too much because she has aides on hand to take the flowers from her, we wouldn’t want her to be burdened by carrying them around after all.

Are you and Kate in a competition about who works harder or has a more difficult job??
I would hate to do her job, sounds like hell for me. She probably wouldn't like my job either.I

No but it’s clear that in order for you to accept an allegation from a woman that she works hard, your standard is:
Does a shift down the mines, comes home, does all the housework gets the kids to school after struggling to get up in the morning to make the lunches.
If she’s not doing this then she can’t claim to be working hard. I mean, you’re NOT doing this yourself but you feel you have the right to set the bar wherever you like.
    Oh don’t worry.

Nope, but while I think her ‘job’ is mindnumbingly boring I don’t think it can be described as incredibly hard work by any stretch of the imagination, nor do I think the number of engagements she carries out amount to her working hard, either in terms of hours or effort. So I’m just giving an example of what I, a regular person, do in comparison to her. There are loads of people who work hard in various jobs and roles, but IMO the royals can’t be included in that. You may see it differently /shrug.

I have great faith in you. Any minute now your going to produce the evidence that she doesn’t do any mothering or anything at all really. This evidence will be groundbreaking as there’s endless evidence that she does plenty of mothering.
Your evidence will be earth shattering news that will make all the front pages in the morning.

You realise that being a mother is not necessarily doing the actual physical cleaning of houses, ironing uniforms for school nor even shopping and cooking a different meal every evening?

I'd say it's possible to be a great mother despite having someone else to do all the heavy lifting for you - you could do all the fun stuff, and the emotional stuff, and be available for your children far more than someone who has to be out of the house every morning by 7:30 and not back till 7pm. I think possibly you could even be a better mother too, as you could always be there for them.

But that's not the same as hard work. Kate M may do lots of mothering - but that doesn't mean she works nearly as hard as most mothers do. It's laughable to think she does.

It seems very clear that Kate and William are the exact same as any mother and father in terms of love, affection and interaction with their children..

    Very hands on..

How they differ to normal joe soaps? Well, all the household chores and issues etc are all taken care of by a team of people, as they should be. They are royalty. As well as having quite busy schedules.

I would say no different than many people who would have lots of money...

I know if I did, I’d have cleaners and cooks and all that...

Nothing as painful and boring and time consuming as run of the mill life stuff!!

Why should it be so? What bestows this privilege on them? Its utterly bizarre in this day and age to encounter the attitude that because someone is 'royal' that are too important to do something menial, like vacuum a floor or wash a cup. What does being royal mean? Its purely an accident if birth or consequences of marriage. They are no better or worse than anyone else. There was a time when it was commonly believed that royalty was divinely ordained, so it's understandabe that people genuinely believed these people were better than everyone else if they were God's chosen rulers. But no one believes that now, do they? As to other people with loads 9f money having staff, they generally made their own money. The RF are funded by tax payers. Outside of the reigning monarch, the rest them serve no actual purpose or role. None.

certainly i dont think anyone would ever think they are better ( i would hope not) i dont think the RF act royal per se I think its just tradition thats passed down. im sure some of them are quite down to earth and i'd like to think William and Kate are - as they come across quite good natured and empathetic when they speak to people. they also dont seem vain. anyway i dont have much interest in the institution but just throwing in some 2 cents to the conversation. since its basically all the daily mail writes about these days. :D

Can’t really see Kate in her rollers and pinny, hoovering the palace while Willie is in his overalls washing the car and powerhosing the courtyard after the horses poop on it.

    Because it is so..

Oh, and those people are employed and earning a living doing these jobs.

Same as they would be doing these jobs for non royals..

Btw, I can’t know for certain, but I doubt William and Kate do all that much household chores and stuff, but maybe they do more than we think

Anyway, point is that money and wealth and privilege exist. And it can buy a lot..

Like I said, if I was quite wealthy I’d have cooks and cleaners and gardners etc..

    That’s just me..

Oh, and it’s not just the reigning monarch that serves a role. Charles and William are heirs. They serve a role, as do their spouses.

Charles had 500 engagements in 2019. 200 more than the Queen.

What about the people who quite literally bow and curtsey to them? Making themselves subservient to them. Those who call them ‘your royal highness’, ‘sir’ or ‘ma’am’? Why are they doing that? Yes it’s tradition but it’s tradition based on a belief that they are actually, literally better than the commoners.

And down to earth? While living in pure luxury at the taxpayers expense, wearing thousands, nay tens of thousands worth of jewellery while at ‘work’, having someone open doors for them, open and close the car door for them, cater to their every whim? But yeah, down to earth. Just like you and me, eh? After all, Harry oh so magnanimously said to people he met “just call me Harry”, isn’t he just so normal ?
