Poly recommendation?

    Hello,

Would anyone have a recommendation on poly to cover a polytunnel? (In this case, it's to cover a geodesic dome I'm making)

I made one for my mother in law:
    106926038_10157190530457056_5815548538825367338_o.jpg?_nc_cat=106&ccb=1-3&_nc_sid=110474&efg=eyJpIjoidCJ9&_nc_ohc=8EMT_nvRAVwAX9dRMg3&_nc_ht=scontent.fdub1-1.fna&tp=14&oh=e2b0685f192fe3e183eff4001b20af19&oe=606D7CE0

Now a neighbour has asked me to make one.

I'm going to make one for my house while I'm at it, but I would like slightly clearer plastic/poly.

This was poly that I bought from polyrope.ie,and I need about 70sqm per dome.

I stretched it over each triangle, under heat to stretch out the plastic nicely.

Has anyone any recommendations for clearer, good quality poly?

Love the dome! I buy my polytunnel coverings from Allens of Allensbridge.

I got my last polytunnel cover from https://www.thepolytunnelcompany.ie/cat/polythene .

Just beware if you buy a branded product like Visqueen it may have that printed all down the plastic.

Wake me up when it's all over.

    Have you plans for this?

    Not particularly.

I tried to do it on sketchup, but I could not get the grab tool to work for me, so I gave up, did some research online and threw it together.

The doors and windows were "designed" (:D) after the dome was erected.

The next dome will have more windows. This dome is a bug trap in summer.

Table saw for bevels was from Aldi, as was the mitre saw.

If I get some more interest, I might invest in decent tools

So if I'm reading that right you cut single angle miters (as opposed to compound miters) and then cut the bevel on the table saw?

Which leads to the question are the bevels always the same?

Precisely. On a 2v dome it appears that the bevel angle is always 10°. I haven't attempted a 3v dome yet, where the bevel angle changes.

    These sites have good info:
    https://geo-dome.co.uk/2v_tool.asp
    https://simplydifferently.org/Geodesic_Dome_Notes?page=3
    http://www.byexample.net/projects/current/dome_construction/index.html

And the youtube channel belonging to the geo-dome chap was very handy. I did get a plan from him, but it didn't make any sense, (which happened to a friend who was also building a dome) so I threw them in the bin.
