Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Chain Harrow with Seed Spreader

Has anyone on here ever attached a seed spreader to a Chain Harrow (the foldable frame type)?? It would be a handy adaption to make to the chain harrow, its really just making frame for the seed spreader and attaching to the harrows frame BUT would it do anything for grass rejuvenation or would it be a waste of time.

Spring Harrow would probably be the best but am kinda thinking a chain harrow might possibly do a similar job.

I had looked into this a bit, had found you could attach a small quad seeder onto the back of a harrow and rig it to a 12v power supply, but the spread width would be quite low compared to the width of a foldable harrow.

An old 10 bag sized maure shaker would do the job much better, it would take two passes for sure but your head would be wrecked having to constantly fill a small quad seeder while harrowing.

Grassland rejuvenation is definitely possible from overseeding but the weather needs to be in your favour for it to work well. There's a thread in the "farming for nature" forum about it that has some good info.

Same harrow here, my thoughts were to construct a bracket for a similar sized seed spreader as that and weld it onto the frame of the harrow.

How do you find the results of that set up??

Very happy with it, seeding in front of the tractor gives the harrow a chance to cover the seed without the need for a further pass.

Only drawback is I can't see the level of the seed in the hopper, simple mirror would cure that :)
