Patio advice

Last year we added sliding doors to our dining room (where there was just a window previously) and we are getting a new patio outside the doors next month. We are having an arched patio put in outside the doors with a path that will then run along the length of the house to meet the existing step down to the larger patio--replacing the concrete path and stones/shrubs. (We're going to try to move the large shrub by the wall this week and move it to the back of the garden, we know it's late but we'll see if we can save it.)

The photos attached show the larger patio we did about 10 years ago, using Roadstone Castlestone setts, where we'll have our table/chairs/bbq.

Question is: should we use the same style block again or go for something different but in a coordinating colour? Has anyone done this before (mixed cobble lock with something else) or any suggestions? One suggestion was Tobermore Historic flags in Slate or Bracken.

I'd go for different style slabs as to divide it up bit, even a flower bed, wall or little fence for example and some lights and a water feature such as little water fall....

Obviously all down to budget of course.

Decking could be an option but I'd look at the long lasting plastic version as no maintenance.
Maybe the slabs/stone would suit better though.
