Wonder how MHQ will work for Leinster coming back from France

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,219 ✭✭✭A-Train

Leinster going to have do it the hard way if they want the 5th star this year, there will be no asterisk beside it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,220 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

Looks like the Rainbow Cup is goosed. Leinster's biggest risk now is being undercooked while our French opponents carry on with their Top14

We may go ahead and organise some interprovincial challenge matches and ask Dan, Johann and Andy to give us the full beans.

ROG should come out of retirement for one game.

Unless. the SA sides can travel to Ireland for a mini competition!
Nucifora should be on the blower to his bok counterpart.

There are no sporting exemptions for people , elite or not, arriving from a country on the MHQ list

The provinces should just play interpros.

Yet. I'm sure an exemption of some sort will be put into law to cover very particular circumstances.

    What date is the semi?

Don't think so - we had a person in the news today, fully vaccinated and negative PCRs who had his appeal turned down despite the fact that his father is dying - had to go to the High Ct to get released

We'll see. We also previously had requirements to not cross county borders with exemptions subsequently made (essentially) for GAA. Let's wait and see. Elite sports gets a different rub for better or worse.

Whatever happens, EPCR won't create a situation where a semi finalist or finalist would have to drop out due to country restrictions. Whatever about the mess that covid created in the group stages, there's no way of Leinster qualified for the final they'd subsequently have to withdraw, they won't be put into that situation.

    1st or 2nd May

Do we just have Munster the week before and nothing else?
Also other match is all French so would be optimistic of having the Saturday game.

A game against Ulster wouldn’t be a bad shout for both teams. Could act as a warmup for both semi finals.

    1st or 2nd May

    Cheers

ROG is laying down a marker thus far in his coaching career! He will be good and ready when Leo steps down and assumes the reins at Leinster!
    Thomond?

ROG has been clear he wants to win trophies so this makes sense

But he got released which is the main point of the story

PCRs are not the most reliable. They have a relatively high false negative outcome. So again, being vaccinated and PCR'ed means they can still be carrying. AFAIK the pro teams are all completing proper non-PCR tests which are far more reliable. If both teams are getting tested and adhering to strict isolation procedures then the risk is low. It may not be enough but at this stage it may never require consideration.

We'll know shortly enough how it'll pan out for returning players.

Irelands women football team are playing Belgium in Brussels at the moment. Belgium are on the quarantine list.

I'd imagine they'll have an exemption particularly given that it's a friendly match they're travelling for.

Still, we'll find out this week what will happen given the above decision to be made.

Even at that the Irish women are amateur whilst I think the travelling French are pro/semi pro so it may be viewed differently anyway.

So which test am I thinking about so? Not that it matters at this stage as we won't be home for the SF so chances of a home final if we get that far are probably not great.

Antigen or lateral flow test I suspect.

The issue now is more what happens to the squad on return from playing LaR.
