Absolutely no problem with this at all.

However, I would like to better understand their bona fides regarding support of the LGBT+ community. I know there was an inclusivity committee set up, but did anything ever come of it? Commercialised support of Pride is, ultimately, pretty empty without year round effort to back it up.

The first minister of one part of this island was removed for not backing gay conversion therapy. They didn't back it's removal, they abstained and it was cited as reason for their removal.

I know some times pride comes across as virtue signalling, but homophobia is still quite widespread and the more brands that support pro gay initiatives like pride the more homophobia is is pushed to the fringe.

Leinster branch were very supportive of the Emerald Warriors running the Union cup in 2019. Which is basically a cup for all the gay rugby clubs in Europe and was held here. I think their bona fides are quite solid with their efforts on inclusivity to be honest.

Big time. Fair play to Leinster and everyone else flying the rainbow flag. No room for homophobia in sport. No room for it in life.

    But, but virtue signalling etc.

Some people’s narrow-mindedness really astounds me. There’s always a victimhood.

Reading it back it comes across extremely harsh which is absolutely not my intention.

Not being able to read tone is something I need to take into consideration more

Nucifora confirming the speculation from a while back re Furlong. He only signed a one year extension as he wanted to see how the financial outlook in Irish rugby fared next year.

It'll still the the IRFU/ Nuciforas fault in some peoples eyes :pac::pac:

Furlong could have been writing off €200-500k in potential earnings if he signed a longer deal. That's a significant amount for most people. I think he's right to see what happens.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,157 ✭✭✭Serbian

The way that quote from Nucifora is worded is curious, assuming it's literally what he said. Specifically, "[...] that was his choice to sit back and think the landscape will have changed in a year [...]", implies that thinking the landscape will have changed in a year is ridiculous, further implying he won't get a better deal in a year.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I think I would have expected it to be worded more along the lines of, "We wanted to contract Tadhg for longer than one year, but he has chosen to take a one year deal with a view to reviewing the financial position again in 12 months". The way it's worded now seems more like the door is already closed to a better deal.

Lol. I don't know how I come across, but I am coming from an area of deep disappointment. I wanted us to win Europe and tbh, I expected us to do better. Maybe, I come across as bitter. Regardless, I think that most of us were frustrated with the Rochelle match. I realize that we are spoiled and have been on a great run, but I am a person who sees th universe crash when we lose in Europe.

To me the above reads Nucifora doubling down. 'Furlong thinks the environment will be better next year, we don't and that's what we told him'

If that's the case then Nucifora needs to put on his thinking cap.

Or else it's as simple as Furlong saying "I'll get fit and be available for every game and you'll have no doubt that Porter is not as good as me, and will have to pay more based off of that year of performance and availability than you're offering based off of the last year".

There doesn't always have to be bad guys you know?

Or even better, "Tadhg is hoping that the union will be in a better place financially next year to give him a higher wage for longer terms, but we can't guarantee that so we're stuck on the budgets we have now."

There's a million different ways to interpret it. It's just people will always be drawn to the dramatised version.

If he's even said "hope" instead of "think" it wouldn't have come across as Nucifora mocking Furlong's optimism but whether intentional or not, that's how it sounds.

I don't think we should read too much into it tbh, in the same way you wouldn't have read too much into those rumours about Furlong moving to Worcester.

Have we talked about Nucifora’s hair yet? Is this the appropriate forum for that?

    Still no outhalf cover.

Hopefully Ross shook off whatever was bothering him a few weeks back.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,172 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Has there been an update on Frawley? He and Harry Byrne have had rotten seasons. Started off so well for the two of them building a promising 10/12 partnership the since the turn of the year neither has been able to stay fit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭stephen_n

They really have no faith in Hawkshaw as a 10. Hopefully Ross can last the 90. Preferably not on one leg like the last time.

Sexton not being included also suggests his concussion issues haven’t cleared up.

It's a bit mad he isn't in the 22 shirt and Larmour at 23, considering Kelleher is leaving in a couple weeks. Unless he picked up a knock or something in the A game last Friday.

JGP has been out for absolutely ages at this rate.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,172 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Wonder if Byrne is still carrying his knock from a few weeks ago. Against Ulster, Ringrose was kicking for goal and JOB kicked down the line.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,586 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

Still no JGP or Sexton! I guess Hawkshaw is not rated at 10. At this point, RB is the last 10 standing. I suppose you can never have enough depth.

I see he played center for the A’s last week. They clearly don’t view him as a ten at all. Yes that decision was very strange about Kelleher unless Larmour is injured.
