Glasgow will get 10 off zebre. Leinster should get 10 from ospreys and Connaught. With a Munster loss today (along with us) surely enough for 2nd spot at worst? Assuming glas get a point or two in SA which ain't a given either.

Zebre threatening to help us out in Italy but then Zebre-ing it up.

What's the reason all the good players in Italy are with Benetton? Are the clubs privately owned or run by the FIR?

Doh, I missed this one. Wasn't originally able to go but looks like I might be able to... if I can get tickets that is!

    Northampton playing Harlequins right now.

Been all Quins, but Northampton have just scored a try off a transition from their own 22. They're so lethal attacking off any spilled ball or badly congested kick.

Northampton look pretty ropey defensively as well. Quins have found a lot of success with short passes close to the ruck to an onrushing forward. They're making a lot of metres in contact and forcing Northampton to concede penalties through killing the ball.

Containing their sweeping attacks will take a lot of accuracy and patience in defence. Shooting up fast in a line could leave gaps for them to exploit and they definitely will capitalise. But get it right and you can snuff their attack and start exploiting their weaknesses close to the ruck.

It's not a full strength Northampton side, but there's enough first choice players on the pitch to draw some conclusions.

    Karl Dickson needs demoting.

Ignored the most blatant professional foul imaginable from Danny Care because he was already on a yellow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Northampton struggling so much in defence. Quins go through a few tight phases, then one pull back pass puts them through a gap.

Quins have had three yellows this game yet are winning.

Michael Milne just put on his arse, gonna be a long night lads..

  • Registered Users Posts: 513 ✭✭✭Rugbyf565

    That is shocking handling

    Foley is having a shocker

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,036 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Prendergast looked quite quick chasing back there.

Going to be a long evening for Leinster :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 513 ✭✭✭Rugbyf565

tbh it’s a bit mental of Leo to throw those lads under the bus and expect them to compete tonight with zero professional rugby minutes in the last 3 months

Has not been great, but not much of a downgrade from last week either.

The camera on the cheerleaders was also a positive so far .

backline getting done for pace every time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

How on earth did Piardi miss that obvious Stormers knock on? Completely fecked us over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Prendergast is a very classy player.

Also you can see the big difference between us and Stormers. When we knocked on, they flooded forward and scored a try. When Leinster got behind the defence with a clever kick they knocked on.

Robin Mcbryde needs to go, our set piece when internationals are away has been nothing short of an absolute shambles

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,109 ✭✭✭SaoPaulo41

Alaalatoa will not be a loss when he leaves

Woeful stuff all over the pitch, it's a hard watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Some questionable tackling from Stormers. Riding pretty high.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Set piece has been so poor the last two weeks. Two lineouts 5m from the Stormers line and crooked throws and knocks ons for both.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 27,465 Mod ✭✭✭✭Podge_irl

Prendergast looking the most talented back out there anyway. Few classy touches.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,109 ✭✭✭SaoPaulo41

This is a shambles bar Prendergast. Leo will come out after the game all nicey nice " it was a tough night, we learned a lot yada yada.

Sometimes I get the impression he isn't ruthless enough.

Stormers are conceding a fair few silly penalties. We just haven't been accurate enough to convert to points.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,109 ✭✭✭SaoPaulo41

2nd try in a week Turner gets disallowed .

He is a great player and having a fantastic season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,752 ✭✭✭degsie

A lot of silly penalties out there

  • Registered Users Posts: 734 ✭✭✭durthacht

Foley is having a tough time with slow and erratic passes, and now with daft penalties.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,752 ✭✭✭degsie

    getting minced, mostly self induced

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,036 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

The difference between his technical skills and contact skills is insane. Restarts and line kicks are especially incredible but he looks like he's never seen a ruck before.

  • Registered Users Posts: 513 ✭✭✭Rugbyf565

think Gunne will be backed ahead of him for next season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,752 ✭✭✭degsie

Stormers fans having a ball! Fair play to them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 734 ✭✭✭durthacht

I'm hoping that Gunne will be backed ahead of him the second half, but I guess next season would be okay.

Maybe that's unfair as I know he's a converted scrum half, but he just doesn't seem at the level Leinster need at scrum half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Dweba chucked that forward to create that line break.

Ultimately though it came from another botched Leinster lineout.

Stormers fans celebrating beating an academy team, well done lads

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,529 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

I hope the URC investigate Leinster for this shite.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,109 ✭✭✭SaoPaulo41

To be fair, not Stormers fault who Leinster fielded. Stormers beat Leinster end of story

  • Registered Users Posts: 341 ✭✭bingobango12

Men against boys stuff really, which was expected. Lineouts and scrums are dreadful. The scrum is understandable but the line out mistakes, handling errors and how out of sync the backline look isn’t.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,595 ✭✭✭RichieRich_89

Leinster had about three kickable penalties in that first half. I think it's questionable how it isn't the plan to go for shots at goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,752 ✭✭✭degsie

This unfortunately will have a psychological impact on the Leinster squad left behind, never good to see your team perform so poorly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 513 ✭✭✭Rugbyf565

    line out is absolutely terrible

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,316 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Third lineout five metres from the Stormers line that we've failed to secure.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,081 ✭✭✭blackcard

    Absoluutely shocking lineouts

Great to see Moloney back on the pitch.

Also that's a well worked Leinster try. Went back against the grain twice after committing Stormers numbers towards the open side of the pitch. Caught them short close to the ruck.
