Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Problem with underground oil tank.

    Hi all,
I'm posting this on behalf of my father who isn't too internet savy. He has come across a neighbour he's trying to help (my father is a retired plumber), and the neighbour has an underground oil tank. The top of the tank is about 2 feet under the ground and there's a run of at least 20 feet from the tank to the oil boiler. The boiler won't fire in the morning even after he has put a non-return valve at the oil tank to stop the oil falling back down the pipe when the boiler has switched off.

He wants to know is there a pump he can get that would do oil and be able to suck the oil up to the boiler. It seems the boiler isn't capable of doing this itself?

    Anyone any suggestions?

    Edit:
The pipe diameter is 1/2" and the depth of the tank is 6ft and naturally the pipe supplying the oil goes down to bottom of the tank.

You need a tigerloop. a by pass screw should be fitted in the return port of the oil pump on the burner while fitting tigerloop

    Hi Declan
When you mention the tigerloop are you talking about a two pipe system? Also where should the tigerloop be installed?

I had one installed at the burner. As far as I remember there was one input from the tank and two connections to the burner.
Google it and you can find out more.
