I’d never heard of that malone fella but seeing as he has a nickname, I thought wrestling was my best guess.

Me neither. I was trying to think what sport you'd 'deliver' in but I couldn't so I went NFL. :(

I really wanted to put "competitive post delivery" for that Mailman question. And given that my "serious" guess was wrong, I may as well have.

I feel like there should be an Animaniacs video going through them all! :D

I thought that too. I think I put NFL, figured it was an Irish name and I had never heard of him, so he was probably American....

Dammit. I changed 64 to 66 for some crazy reason as I knew it didn’t really fit into games played.

I based it all off the USA World Cup question.

I remembered to add one for the 3rd/4th playoff but overestimated the earlier number of matches

Ha! same here. I reasoned thus: Maybe The Mailman sends the ball out of the park a lot ;)

Ugh not a single one right in the actual Sports round, but I did know Scottie Pippin from guest starring on Fresh Off The Boat... so still did better at Sports than I expected... :pac:

I figured he 'slotted them home'... and randomly guessed basketball :pac: If I was doing it again I would have put ice hockey but thankfully that didn't come to mind at the time ;)

*sigh* This was actually my worst answer in the game, or at least the one I'm kicking myself most about. :(

I tried working it out from first principles; you've a final, a 3rd/4th playoff, two semi finals, 4 quarter finals and 8 second round games. That's 1+1+2+4+8 = 16 games. So far so good.

Now just the group games to go; I somehow convinced myself that 8 groups where each side plays 3 games means that there will be 8*3 = 24 group matches. So 24+16 = 40 overall. Which is what I submitted.

....you can probably see the issue here. :o I somehow forgot to account for the fact that every team in each group plays three games; I was only accounting for one team playing three games overall without considering the others. So it should have been 6 games per group times 8 = 48, and then 48+16 = 64 would have been correct.

    tl;dr - I fail at basic maths.

This is going to end shortly, but my low scores have led me to be the only one to have not had a worse round than any before. Either improved or stayed the same. That run is going to get skewered in a moment though.
