Is Gript even a word or just a kool way of spelling gripped. Always think it sounds like a gay hookup site like Grindr or Squirt

    You took your time

If you knew you tweeted verboten material, why would you run for office. She must have known this would come up

I've seen people trying to claim it was left there to highlight her journey and growth as a person :pac:

Huh, odd, no one along yet to dismiss the story as it's on gript.

The story shouldn't be dismissed, but if I was Linda Hayden, I'd be looking to fellow failed election candidate and perennial loser John McGuirk of Grift for inspiration. Now there's a horrible individual with a chequered past, and yet he refuses to go away, like a great big unflushable turd.

I love it when people reference paywalled articles.

I didn't spot the link for The Times article at first. For a second there I thought you were saying the youth defence blog was behind a paywall lol.

Good job for the social democrats that she didn't get elected i guess. I didn't even realise she ran in the election until a few days ago.

Yeah Gript is pissing off a lot of good people

From a rising social democrats star to having to step down because of a series of racist tweets sent in her 30s https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/campaigner-linda-hayden-steps-down-from-social-democrats-after-racist-tweet-row-qtpq9ngcm

to now sending pictures of a mans penis, without consent to an abuse victim : https://gript.ie/linda-hayden-dick-pics/

not only is it tasteless and perpetrating abuse on a victim, but I'm pretty sure she's guilty under the image based sexual assault laws she championed

Its always hiding right inside the groups that protest this stuff so much.

The worst part is there are many on twitter asking for her to be left alone , despite her championing a witch hunt against many others.

I know it's probably very petty on my part but there is something very satisfying when virtue signaling hypocrites like this one or Justin Trudeau gets found out like this.

At one stage last week the #IstandWithLinda was trending number one on twitter after she was forced to climb down from her lies about Ciara Kelly.

Two days later, her supporters were tearing one another apart with some now demonising her and others supporting her.

Lots of nasty people on Twitter on all spectrums of society and politics who now unfortunately get a platform to air their views.

    .

She isn't a member of the social Democrats anymore. Unclear when she left - if she was booted out because of this then fair play to them for taking decisive action quickly

It's a terrible beast unleashed by the left and now it's eating its own.

Cancel culture has been around forever. Now that CC affects people who feel like they should be immune it gets a name and an erroneous source i.e. 'the left'.

The cancelling of 'problem people' begins in school where we're trained for conformity. Look at the British media, privately educated men are grossly over-represented. How many bright people with the 'wrong' opinion have been weeded out (cancelled) along the way?

    It is absolutely hilarious

She was already muted by me due to the pile ons she instigated

    Don't worry about it.

The relatively small view count and amount of replies just prove how much of a nobody this person is. She was just another grifter on Twitter.

I wonder did Ciara Kelly know about these tweets and use them as leverage?

Just realised she was 36 back in 2014 when she was tweeting that stuff. Christ.

I’d never heard of her till reading this thread so I went down the Twitter rabbit hole of #istandwithlinda and they really are a sanctimonious lot.

My question is - would Linda have been happy to lead a mob if it was somebody else?

It was her passion to do just that, this is why its so apt that it should happen to her.

I think the problem for people like Linda on twitter is that they post non stop on it, and over time have accumulated so much content on it she cant remember half of the garbage she posted. It is staggering the amount of tweets some people post. When one tries to take ownership of the high moral ground its very hard to stay up there.
I never heard of this woman until the Ciara Kelly business last week.
When i saw her "offending" tweets from a few years back i thought they were those of an immature teenager. I was stunned to see she was in her 30s at the time, and then flabbergasted to hear that the Soc Dems missed that and put her up for election.

She probably would as Soc Dems tend to be WOKE nuns and clerics ,she can't not be battered and bruised at this stage

the bit i read about the BJ and the Nigerian guy was more tacky than anything else , overreaction in my opinion

ive never heard of her until the last week

Ah so is this the person that hashtag was about ? I saw the hashtag but didn’t go any further and seems I did myself a favour. Until I read the OP and accompanying articles I couldn’t have picked her out of a line up. Self righteous and self important people normally are likely to fall on their proverbial sword because what they claim to be is never really who they are. Nobody is perfect and those claiming to be all but an angel most often as bad as the people they call out on stuff.

I'm uncomfortable about it too. And I say that as someone who cannot stand racism and has very little time for the Soc Dems. She deserved to be outed as a racist and a hypocrite, and the organisation she founded (the self-styled "Victims' Alliance") absolutely deserved a lot more scrutiny than it was given. The red flags were there long before any of this. But yeah, seeing someone getting destroyed like that isn't nice.
My question is - would Linda have been happy to lead a mob if it was somebody else?

Without a shadow of a doubt. But that doesn't make it right.

was her going to Paddy Jackson's teams sponsors too much, protesting outside his games too much and going on radio trashing him and cant accept a court ruling (despite being not in the same jurisdiction)...and wasn't she whipping up a fuss about Carlow Uniform gate too and the claiming a copyright issue on Only fans was like revenge porn....absolutely no sympathy for her,,,,

"Cancel culture" is more often than not "living with he consequences of your own actions"
Who decides these consequences? Right now it seems to be the self-appointed righteous mob.
I hate the Soc Dems as much as the next guy, but this is not ok.

as i said i never heard of her until the last week or so , someone stuck a video up on Twitter of her doing stand up several years ago , i got a good few laughs out of her performance ( and it was better than most amateur stand up comedy routines ive seen and ive been to a few down the years ) but most of the replies trashed that too

social media is an awful cruel place when someone gets piled on

I note that the ultra-woke Emmet Spiceland thanked this post but hasn’t condemned Linda Hayden’s actions.

And you don’t need to pay for the Sunday Times article referenced in the OP. You just need to register for their site,
