Commentator clueless there saying that kick doesn’t matter in the championship. Of course it does if it comes down to points difference

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

My heart was thumping almost as hard as if it was Ireland playing. Unreal finish to that game. Holy sh*t.

Ah lads, pity we couldn't be watching that in a pub. Hopefully next year's Super Saturday is just as entertaining.

Sour grapes indeed, the French are going to make a beautiful wine from theirs.

The ill discipline by Irish, Scottish and French players with the red cards had helped Wales so much.. And then tonight the last 10 mins of the game there, Wales had there lack of discipline, Liam Williams was so stupid with his yellow card.. So funny😂😂😂

The decision making for the last 2 passes was brilliant. Not skip passing, basic but brilliant.

That was such a mad game. Ridiculous.

That miss conversion could end up making a difference. France +41, Wales +61. 20 points difference would've only been 16 with the conversion.

    You love to see it.

Simple stuff. Works well 15v14, works even better 14v13.

Liam Williams what was he thinking???

Maddest end to the maddest 6 nations ever

And yeah I know it’s not even over yet. What will happen on Friday??

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

The great thing about that result is that the Scotland game is not a dead rubber. Something to tune in for.

    Allez les bleus indeed.

World rugby need to have a long look at that scenario where a team can commit 5 yellow card offences during 5 separate advantage phases in defence and get away with every one of them because the final offence is committed by the attacking team. It’s ridiculous. That and stop the clock on scrum resets.

    No sympathy for Wales today

France have alot of improving to do though

Yeah, they were held very well to pull the Welsh in before releasing instead of rushing it out wide as quick as possible.

Wales will rue Liam Williams’ stupid yellow. On one hand you have to feel for Wales but on the other they got every conceivable piece of luck and were extremely cynical in the last 10 mins and even with 2 yellows they got away lightly.

Surprised ‘Barnesy’ wasn’t called on to check that last pass

Thankfully rugby won out - great day of rugby. goodnight

That missed conversion could be crucial, if I'm not mistaken. France have to beat Scotland by more than 20 points (with a bonus point) to win the championship. Had that gone over, a win by more than 16 would have sufficed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

It didn't Wales with 2 yellows

+ Lukey and Barnsey on their side.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Watching it on BBC was a gamble but it’s paid off. Jonathan Davies was very fair it has to be said, Brian Moore is crying because Scotland didn’t get a walkover vs France, Jamie Roberts saying “france didn’t play until the red card” and now praising Pearce for enforcing the 5 second rule.

    Ah bliss, trés bien.

Shout out for the sneaky swinging arm attempted tackle by the Welsh sun scrum half on Dulin there too.

Williams could have gone earlier because he was lying all over rucks before the French Red. He is a great player but also a brain injury at times. Had the Welsh held their discipline, who knows where that all ends up

Only way to depower defences is automatic cards after 5 pens, then every 3 thereafter. Obviously foul play is dealt with differently too but it means its equally applied across the board.

    Pen advantage counts.

    Cynical, not dirty.

Dirty is Genge on Johnny Sexton.

Happy Wales didn't win a GS...BUT...I do feel bad for Alun Wyn Jones.

Great ending. A crazy last 15 minutes or so

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,353 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Thought Pearce and Barnes were mostly excellent with their officiating. Not a problem with the sending off as it was a neck roll and eye gouge. Maybe could have binned another Welsh player near the end but apart from that they got the big calls correct.

He's got away with so many indiscetions throughout his career i'm glad that finally one of them cost his team a grandslam and possibly the championship, I remember at a Connacht game he dropped the shoulder on one of our players on the ground, i was stood 20 metres away and it was a dirty cheap shot when the play was over, i never liked him since

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,276 ✭✭✭✭GreeBo

To be fair you can't blame Wales for playing the ref.
The only way this stops is if the refs penalize them, its like slow play in golf, verbal warnings are useless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,433 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

Man, that must be gutting for the Welsh fans. I mean, we've had disappointments, that France score against Scotland in 2007, NZ 2013, but I think losing the game like that with a slam on the line would be orders of magnitude worse. Genuine sympathy there.

Fair play to France though, to stick in it like that after the red card and the frustration in having a score knocked off when potentially Wales could have seen yellow, great work from them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 348 ✭✭Raving_Magic

    What an amazing ending!

Now next question can France get a BP and beat Scotland by 21 points next week?

Still seems a hard task no?
