Couldn't see an experienced keeper being on the edge of his box when that ball was played through. Less than school boy stuff

Excuses are warming up nicely already.

Promising performance, great positives bar a couple of GK errors.

I think we’ve been ok and have defended well for the amount of possession Serbia have had.

Lack of creativity is still frightening though.

How come var isn’t in the qualifiers? Something to do with fifa tournaments vs uefa or something?

Lack of experience between the sticks costing us tonight.

Has been a decent performance to be fair, but not getting a result here will make things super difficult.

First goal, the keeper wasn't great but his defence left him exposed.

That second goal is on him though, which is harsh on the young lad but that was shocking positioning, not to mention a lack of athleticism to adjust for it.

More or less only the top team qualify. Portugal will be top.
You wont place as one of the few second place losing your first game.
Might as well be realistic. Its not a slight on the team, it's how hard it is to qualify for the WC now.

Christ we'll probably be looking at League of Ireland. Our first 2 keepers are only back ups.

Look at the squad. We have all mentioned how bad the quality of the Irish squad has been over the years, but this is the worst I have ever seen it.


We use to give off about the lack of Irish players playing for Champions Leagues clubs, we are now happy if they are playing Championship football.

If you see that second goal without watching any of the match you say it's an unreal goal, and don't put too much blame on the keeper. But I must admit, Travers has looked shaky and nervous all night. He's been in questionable positions and just looks uncomfortable. (Strange decision for the first goal, but not blaming him for it). The chap is only 21 though, and it is his competitive debut, so you have to feel for him.

If I were to guess it might be because in some confederations they cannot/have not implemented VAR yet so to have a level playing field it cannot be used anywhere.

This is disappointing as we started well and there are definitely (pardon the pun) green shoots.

We pretty much had to not lose this game to stand any chance of qualifying realistically. Oh well.

Got injured in training about a month or so ago, tore something in his stomach. He’s close to being back fit, but just not there yet.
