Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Poor from Mc Clean with those attempted crosses.

    No, McCleans crossing is shocking.

McClean is infuriating. In close he crosses the ball almost out of play. Far out he barely hits it and it hits the closest defender.

    So frustrating

I know this is a cliche but the ref has been brutle

Some of our crosses have been well below par. We need to get them in the box.

McClean is like a lad you just showed how to cross on Fifa

I think the people in the thread looking for Kenny's head have been looking for his head since McCarthy was the manager.

An awful lot of idiots in this thread. We've played well tonight even if we lose. Credit to the lads. Lots to build on.

The 5 team group doesn’t really allow for building on results. We need early results.

Who's doing the shouting on the sideline for Ireland, doesn't sound like Kenny?

Second goal was miserable in fairness.

Not sure the ‘confidence’ thing should ever be brought up as a thing of ‘ah ya the lads will be confident now’..

Still a goal. They applied pressure and were up there to put it away when the mistake was made. That’s good play, not miserable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,938 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

We can't play this style. We will always lose to technically superior teams

We need to play to our strengths.

I was more wanting to comment on the confidence thing tbh.

Although we won’t get breaks like that every game.

    Robbie Keane LOL.

Jeez Brady. What an awful corner there

With Randolph in goal I think we walk away with a point tonight.

Has to be Bazunu between the sticks in the next game for me.

Well we scored twice. Thats a huge win for Kenny.

Shocking corner by Brady there at the end.

Great performance in the first and last 10 minutes

What game was George and Stephen watching ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,984 ✭✭✭Soups123

    Good effort lots of positives

Travers just not anywhere near the level and cost us the game , two CBs struggled too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,116 ✭✭✭✭Mantis Toboggan

Not bad in fairness, it could have been a lot worse, defensively and goalkeeper very shaky, some positives but hard to see us qualify.

Brady not being able to beat the first man from a corner and McClean with a woeful cross at the end there.

Atrocious not being able to do that with fresh legs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,567 ✭✭✭Irish_rat

That's bloody harsh. Don't play that lad between the sticks again

It wasn’t completely brutal. But 3-2 score line was flattering. Let’s be honest.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

    Inexperience was our downfall tonight.
Not a bad performance with a makeshift team.

Obviously, the defeat is hard to take - but there are quite a few positives to take from that.

My god the amount of people posting here who havent a notion about football is staggering. Great to have knowledgeable fans..😒😒

McLean has no business being near an international side, he lacks any footballing intelligence.

What can you say at this stage about Hendrick, Brady and McClean?

We can't play this style. We will always lose to technically superior teams

We need to play to our strengths.

    What are they exactly?
I have been watching Ireland play to "strengths" since Trap and been bored senseless for 10 years now

I'm not a Kenny fan. Don't have any complaints with that though. We gave it a good go.

That second goal could prove vital come the Serbia game in Dublin

McClean did nothing wrong when he came on, brought a bit of energy to the game. Usual stuff with some on here with certain players targeted.

Good defeat lads. The beautiful game wasn't enough for us tonight alas.

We need to develop better players capable of playing a modern style of football.

Like some of us have been saying here for a decade.

    Just give it time.

'A lot to be positive about'

This be the rhetoric until the next match

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,607 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

Follow this up with a win v Luxembourg and maybe we're going places.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,506 ✭✭✭Underground

We've to beat Serbia at home then to have any sort of chance, not to mention hoping that other results go our way. I don't really back us to beat them at home.

Much improved against a decent side away from home.

Serbia just had more quality and that was always going to be expected when you look at our squad.

The FAI seriously need to get an academy going and asap

    ‘Brave’

    ‘Passion’

Like... a loss does nothing for us here, positive or not. It’s a short campaign and we needed early results.

This was identified as an early key game and its a loss.

Again though I’d have to say Kenny is hard-done-by with the squad available to him.

Yep vile. Kenny is the future. I've never seen Ireland play like this before.

How many of his crosses connected with an Irish player? That constitutes "something wrong" for a winger.
