Do you want the facts or don't you?

Yes I want the facts, not some politician using a misleading headline figure to defend his position.
    Jim_Hodge wrote: »

And maybe consider those who have lost friends and family, who weren't previously ill or in nursing homes, to Covid before you write them off with the insult that they were going to die anyway.

    #IGNORE

Ah, you are losing the run of yourself now.

The simple fact is a lot of people who died were very sick anyway. Its not "crap" as you like to call it, its a fact.

I am not referring to people who died with no underlying conditions, stop trying to claim that. You are the only one insulting these people.

Is this the reason why Brazil, and Argentina, didn't sign a deal with Pfizer: https://www.pharmaceutical-technology.com/news/company-news/pfizer-latin-american-vaccine/

"Pfizer reportedly asked governments in Argentina and Brazil to put up sovereign assets, including military bases and federal bank reserves, as collateral for potential future legal costs."

Yikes. Now that part was not reported on France24.

I am referring to the usual news headline along the lines of "today we have 358 cases and 38 deaths" etc.

That is as much as the vast majority of people, including me, will hear.

The state agencies could surely come up with a better way of giving an overall snapshot don't you think?

Countless times I have heard people gasp and say "62 death today" 46 dead today" etc.

And as you keep ignoring, politicians will wheel the number out on prime time a few hours later and claim all the families are grieving tonight, when this is simply not the cases.

Except the News Headlines do not say we had 38 deaths today. They say that 38 deaths were announced today or reported today. It is very easy to understand

Yes, it's pretty scary when you think about it.

The mainstream media have a habit of leaving nuggets of information out. Often significant nuggets.

Probably a dumb question - but is covid still a notifiable disease? How does that work with all of the private tests going on? Noticed rapid antigen tests being advertised on the radio today - mail order buy a batch of 10 for €100, made me curious.

Jesus wept! The old "they would have died anyway' line.

I thought we had moved on from this cr@p.

Have you seen the overall death figures for 2020 yet? The number is not fully confirmed just yet as some more deaths could be registered. But it’s less than previous years.

So yeah, the data suggests that there wasn’t excess deaths. Which suggests most of those people would have died anyways.

But we are to blame for all the people who died cases, as we all went a bit mad at christmas.

Really? With all the restrictions on other medical procedures etc etc.
I wonder what it would have been if nothing had been done?

Well I'd say a mixture of frustration and delight.

Many are frustrated that we look like we are in never ending lockdown when they have their freedom.

The rest are delighted as they believe England will be in lockdown again soon and are looking forward to when they can say "I told ye England would be back in lockdown again after a few months, we were right to stay in lockdown""

The fact things are starting to reopen here seems to be badly affecting those who wanted things to open?

    Odd but not surprising.

This whole forum has gone off the deep end today. Is there something in the air?

The forum went off the deep end when the mods decided that they were going to let the place be over run with re-regs, multiple accounts holders and posters that have suddenly decided to resurrect accounts after years of inactivity.

Consequently, the discourse is exactly as you would expect.

Keeping the door open for re-imposing restrictions if things get out of hand again. Could be the possibility of reduced supply of vaccines too which is spooking leaders. They all put their trust in the vaccinations basket.

Good to see teams back doing a bit of training down the local park. About bloody time.
Love strolling through the park and seeing games and training and all that activity going on.

    More lies

    Here’s today’s press release:

    https://www.gov.ie/en/press-release/adbb0-statement-from-the-national-public-health-emergency-team-tuesday-13-april/

“The median age of those who died was 85 years and the age range was 46-102 years.”

Seriously what do you get actually lying to people?

Stating the fact that a lot of people who died with covid were very sick, gravely ill and dying anyway, gets people banned?

Yet you think its ok to dismiss this fact as "crap" and "tripe" without making any effort to argue the facts.
