Is it still 6 per table for outdoor pubs? Hadn't seen it so not sure if it was posted already!

Yeah it is for the moment. No word on closing times but at least the €9 donation is gone (the few times I just wasn't hungry)

Think were truly on the road to full recovery from this and seems to be an air of positivity around since the announcement. Obv not everything is slated to open as of yet but it's looking promising. Please to every god there is concerts in the 3Arena Autumn/Winter will be a real possibility

The Media and partially 'expert comments/opinions including Government officials' needs to play there part and not use panic tactics like last Nov/Dec.

The 9 euro mandatory meal was one of the dumbest ideas ever to come out of NPHET and the government.

    Good riddance.

It was only considered dumb by those that didn't understand it, or didn't want to understand it.

The €9 meal was designed to ensure that a) half of pubs remained closed, b) that only the larger pubs were able to open. C) that a meal would be a way to limit the time in the environment.

The whole policy was about reducing social contacts, and understanding that it is not possible to have a socially distant drinking session

What would happen if you got a ticket to an event and the quick testing has been implemented. You feel fine all day and outside the venue you get your test and its positive meaning your not allowed in ?

For a ticketed event I’d imagine you lose your money (unless you can sell it quickly) Be the same as buying a ticket and not showing up.

I've been very against the lockdown for a while now but to be fair it probably did what it was intended to do, stopping pub crawls

Obesity 'a major factor' in risk of hospitalisation and death from COVID – study

Obesity is a significant factor in the likelihood that someone will be severely affected by COVID-19, a major UK study has found.

A study of nearly seven million people found strong links between someone's body mass index (BMI) and whether they ended up in hospital or died if they caught coronavirus in late winter or spring last year.

The impact of a high BMI was worse if someone was in a younger age group or from an ethnically diverse community, according to the paper by the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.

The study found that half as many people with a 'healthy' BMI of between 18.5 and 25 were admitted to intensive care, compared with the average, whereas nearly three times as many people with a BMI above 35 were admitted.

Among those who died, there were about a sixth fewer than average at the healthy range and nearly a third more among those with a BMI of 35 or more.

You don't need the gym to maintain a healthy weight though.

Those are no the one's who'll be rushing back to the gyms.

My six year old does gymnastics and their covid protocols were excellent. Is my reading correct that they can’t go back until June 7th?

    d) It prevented people going on pub crawls.

It didn’t do that though. All it meant was leaving food behind/trying to get around the rule/eating too much

It did little to stop pub crawls in practical terms.

Clearly not the ones in that study because it’s UK based and they are dead.

Matt Cooper having a “debate” with an ISAG zero Covid merchant on TV3 atm. How long more do we have to listen to this rubbish.

Talking about a massive wave in 6-10 weeks. Such nonsense

Someone needs to have a quiet word with him and stop inviting these guests on. He has McConkey on radio today who was surprisingly upbeat but still on about variants and transmission in toilets.

It was also to deal with the complaints from pubs who claimed they were effectively restaurants and should be allowed open when the restaurants were allowed to open. The Government didn't want them to simply operate as pubs when they were supposed to be acting as restaurants.

She was atrocious.....completely ignored his question about the older and vulnerable being vaccinated and doubled down that we will have another even more ferocious wave.......

I optimistically predicted 140 by Sunday

We could hit 125 by then, maybe even lower

Ah yes, a completely arbitray rule to determine who loses their livelihoods and who doesn't, which actually pushed people towards a smaller number of premises making them busier and thus riskier. A policy so successful its been scrapped.

But yeah, we just didn't understand.
