Good news but what about adults who it is a medical necessity to get right fitting shoes.. adult orthopedic waiting lists are long enough at the moment. and proper footwear for pain control etc is a must .they obviously do not understand that up in dublin... had to check it not April fools days..and lets not forget the senior citizens and falls and special needs adults too.

Decent GP referral numbers - big drop from yesterday.

    https://tomorrowscare.ie/covid/2021-03-31_COVID_GP_Survey_Results.pdf
I wonder how much effect the walk-ins might be having on this data? Up to 2 days ago 7,500 had shown up with a positivity rate of 3%.

While they probably will be, the news is that they feel they should be and are discussing it. Nothing is yet decided.

    Wrong.

Efficacy of 90% means 10% of a vaccinated population could catch covid, all the evidence except for one debunked trial of astrazeneca in SA have shown that all the vaccines against all the variants are fully effective at preventing hospitalisation and death.

It can't be the effect of the schools closed anyway, schools have no effect on transmission.

Schools only closed Friday. So yes, it cant be the effect of schools

So what if none them end up in hospital. The 10% will have minor illness only.

Also, the strong data on the effectiveness of the vaccine in preventing spread means that the R0 will also be suppressed meaning the virus wont spread either.

    6 deaths, 411 cases.

For a Wednesday, that bodes well for swab numbers.

    411 cases, 6 deaths

First day we’ve ever got cases before swabs by my reckoning.

Why so early with the numbers today?

And all the evidence to date shows none of them (from any variant) do end up in hospital. I think the person we are quoting is saying even asymptomatic cases are a problem.....

They knew the residents of the restrictions thread would be waiting for them outside with pitchforks once they saw the swab numbers, so got them in early to get out of dodge

Cynical much? You can be sure Ronan Glynn will be working right through Easter.

but you need to make an appointment! To buy your kid a new pair of shoes:confused:

While the rest of us can go in and buy essential wine, vodka, beer, Easter Eggs, cigarettes, Hello magazine, candles and diffusers in a crowded supermarket !! :D:D

The IFR of asymptomatic covid is 100%. For many, they will continue to live as normal for decades, but they will die.

yes and with a max of circa 2.5% ending up in hospital(thats 25% of the 10%/getting lower with new treatments) and not all at the same time...

presently lets not forget over 70s have c. 95% survival rate at the moment.with it being higher in the healthy and lower in others eg some of those in nursing homes/community/serious comorbidtys/hospitals/pallative care etc.

That's a marked improvement on the last 3 or 4 Wednesdays. If tomorrow shows a similar improvement on the higher Thursday case numbers we've had of late, it will be very good news.

No reason to suspect today's swabs will be any higher than cases, this hasn't been common recently.

You’d swear Ronan Glynn does nothing if you read the nonsense on here.

He had one bit of extended leave for about 4-5 weeks when Tony came back, but other than that he’s been on the go since January last year.

You do because this isn't a simple matter of breezing in, taking them off the shelf and paying for them. It involves close interaction with the sales person. That is why SNA s are upset about the vaccine roll out. I don't know any currently but they are one group at considerable risk.

No, you need an appointment to get your kid measured for shoes, which can't be done online.

    “Stable but precarious”

    - Prof Philip Nolan describes Ireland’s epidemiological situation saying “things aren’t getting worse, but they aren’t getting better”

R number now standing between 1.0-1.3

ah good to hear the old favourites

Try watching the briefing where he gave a lot of detail on the impact of the vaccine.

Will be interesting to see where today's cases tally with swabs. If the swab count is in the 400s from a large number of tests then it'll be excellent.
