I love how it was ok to shut schools, postpone cancer screening, pay billions to keep people at home - but never ever can you stop meat production.

Food production has been rightly classed as essential from Day 0.

I assume the reasoning is fairly obvious.

I agree. It seems very few profit from meat. Farmers have said for years that they struggle, factory workers seem to be treated pretty poorly with no rights, environmental impact will cost us all with the emissions and not just financially and the factories are a hotbed for Covid. But hey, the fat cats have good lobbyists and friends in high places.

The vast majority of meat produced is exported.

Apologies if already posted. The lancet report is a tough read. At least it was for me. I just assumed we’d be ok when a large percentage were vaccinated. I think the government need to communicate honestly with us about how we’re going to get back to living our lives and living safely. If we need to make changes going forward let us know and we can be prepared and ready.

I discount anything supported by Gerry Kileen tbh

    Changes nothing.

We import lots of food products that similarly have not been restricted.

    Meat isn’t essential

It's a modelling study based on various assumptions.

They say themselves they will need to refine as more data becomes available.

I wouldn't be getting too excited by it.

Of course it is, unless you have figured out a way to have steak and chips without it?

Ah yes, because modelling studies and Gerry Killeen haven't been wrong at all throughout this whole thing.

The IFA would raise hell if anyone tried to rein in the meat factories and all governments are terrified of the IFA

    good old fashioned jail break
    Gods speed to them.

hopefully they dont print their pictures, three pictures of coloured men being chased by a white police force will not look good.

    Casual racism aside.
Sources said that three men, who had arrived on a flight from Dubai, were outside The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry smoking under supervision when they attempted to abscond. One of the men returned voluntarily but two others left the premises. One is an Irish national and another is on a UK passport, it is understood.

How have you determined they are "coloured men"?

Nope, I asked you a question, I have not inferred anything.

Neither did the article you linked to.

    So again.
hopefully they dont print their pictures, three pictures of coloured men ( being chased by a white police force will not look good.

its the only fair way to discuss this , the facts.

if you cant do then maybe someone else can?

if not there is no point debating posts unless it can be done as a link or no one will follow the convo.

Fortunately that's not true however much you'd like it to be.

We'll have to chat about it tomorrow, Graham. I'm out at a dinner party tonight, owing to my personal level of risk tolerance.

Dropped a parcel to the neighbours before I left home and they had a housefull, too. Guessing it's something to do with their personal risk tolerance.

Sure there would be no consequences to interrupting global food distribution networks

We need to start thinking about outdoor living according to this article

Irish Times: Public urged not to travel due to risk of asymptomatic spread

Infectious disease specialist Dr Mary Horgan has called on the public not to travel during Easter weekend due to the risk of asymptomatic people spreading Covid-19.

Dr Horgan said the public needed to think about outdoor living while the days are getting longer and the weather warmer.

“Communities locally should be thinking about how to live outdoors. Now is the time to start building infrastructures outdoors,” she said.

“It aligns with our climate green agenda also perhaps by closing the streets in our towns, incentivising people and putting the onus on businesses in communities to see how they can adapt. Let’s be creative. That’s what we Irish are good at.”

    Irish Times

With all due respect to the good doctor, she can go take a long walk off a short pier.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

If random testing of people with no symptoms shows 2.2% positivity and targeted testing of symptomatic people and close contacts shows 3.1-3.5% Positivity; you have to question what is going on?
