Deliberately mislead clients. Only corrected the situation for people if they complained/were aware.
They'll shrug the fine off and that will be that.

Yeah, the institution is fined, no individual held accountable.
The fine is probably a fraction of what they profited from their crime, and in any case the cost will be put onto the customer anyway.
    It is sickening really.

They have already had to provide full refunds and compensation.

Every member of the UB board should be sacked and barred for holding a directorship for at least 5 years. They tolerated this ****, even if they did not initiate it.

Reports said that 29 families lost their family home over Ulster Banks deliberate overcharging. I can only imagine the upheaval for families been thrown into the rental market and for the children having to move areas, schools, etc. Hundreds more families were nailed to the wall with the new mortgage rates foisted upon them and missed out on things like a summer holiday or being able to upgrade their car.

None of this happened in a vacumn either. There was a financial advisor who represented many of the over charged families. He pointed out to Ulster Bank on multiple occasions that what they were doing was deliberately over charging their customers. They refused to listen and just kept on doing it. He even made representations at an Oireachtas committee in the Dail and still Ulster Bank carried on overcharging. They knew well what they were doing and even after it had been pointed out they still kept doing it.

Whats remarkable is that we'er not seeing anyone even being questioned by the Gardai about what went on here. Between this and the Davy scandal it just shows that not much has changed since the collapse of the banks in 2010, directors are still free to scam people out of their money and they wont be held accountable.
