Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hopefully the post game interviews go very hard on Kenny. He hasnt a clue how to manage at this level.

If one thing sums it up, it's that there was one player on the pitch tonight who played in this year's Champions League, and he plays for Luxembourg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,160 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

    :

Bollox, when mick and Mon didn't qualify it's their fault, when Kenny doesn't qualify it's the players..

Not even the players. Its John Delaneys fault.

Was fully expecting a win tonight.

God, where does Irish football go from here ?

    Sad sight . Nice lad.

But he was the final act of Delano.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,924 ✭✭✭KH25

I honestly don’t remember a worse Ireland team. There’s such a lack of quality throughout the team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭LowOdour

Worst thing is that this is no great shock. Something stinks in the Irish senior squad...this is not just caused by Kenny.

We have premier league players, we should be better but year after year has shown that we are very poor at this level.

Im stumped to what is wrong

"We don't have the players to compete at this level".

    Against Luxembourg.

    Jesus wept.

Yep. That argument shouldn't even be considered against this opposition.

The manager is the problem. Needs to be sacked immediately.

Man I really wish Giles and Dunphy were on the panel tonight.

    I miss the lads :(

Farcical, embarrassing use whatever words you want. He’s out of his depth.

  • Registered Users Posts: 561 ✭✭✭thenightman

The comparison with Steve Staunton's record needs to stop. Stan won 6 games.

Stan had Keane, Duff, Given, O'Shea, Kevin Doyle, Dunne, Finnan, Stephen Ireland all prem regulars for decent teams. Kenny doesn't have 1 comparable player of that quality arguably.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,218 ✭✭✭Islander13

Kenny better have an apology coming tonight. Disgraceful performance from the players.

Yes we are a shadow of previous teams but cmon. His easy ride has to stop now and big question marks over his tenure

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,706 ✭✭✭clsmooth

Congratulations to Luxembourg. Cracking goal and were good value for the win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,240 ✭✭✭✭briany

The good news is that it can't get much worse than this.

The bad news is that it could stay this bad for a long time.

Feel sorry for Kenny but if you think Kenny is the problem here then you need to take another look. Worst Irish squad in 40 years. The quality of Irish players has declined dramatically in the last 20 years. When you think about the squad we had in 2002 versus this rabble it's literally unbelievable how much worse Irish players have become. Magnitudes worse.

    Ah lads.

Just didn’t do enough to get it over the line

    Still, we go again

There's no go again. It's over

This was an honourable experiment that has failed and is going nowhere. Get Kenny out of there for his own sanity.

    Do enough?
    We deserved to lose...to Luxembourg...
We go again? We havent "gone" under Kenny.

    I had a Macedonia

For the last ten games Kenny needs to wear that jersey forever.

Playing some of the young players is needed as we have got very stale over the years. Won't be good enough for this qualifying campaign but should be good for the next campaign.

However they should be able to beat Luxembourg at home.

Kenny inspires nothing, he must walk.

  • Registered Users Posts: 527 ✭✭✭sterz

Terrible result but a dose of reality for people thinking it's just down to the management team. It's the worst squad we've seen and the gap in the rankings doesn't really reflect the actual quality of both sides.

Totally deserved and a strange performance considering what we saw on Wednesday night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,729 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

We’d have been better off not playing at the start and letting them score an early goal....

Then we might have had a chance...

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,984 ✭✭✭Soups123

There is nothing to consider, he should be sacked ahead of Qatar.

It's true we're ****. I'd give Kenny more time because what he's trying to do is huge.

But there is no excuse for tonight. It's unacceptable.

What is he trying to do? Seriously? I'd say he has no clue himself

Not great performers at that level tho. Few players in teams who will play Championship more than likely soon.

At least John Delaney got to live high on the hog for a while.

No need to invest in Irish football when English clubs are developing our young players on our behalf, that gravy train was never due to come off the tracks.

Molomby should be first name in that midfield he's already head and shoulders above everyone else. Him knight and hourihan is probably out best midfield at this point. I have no idea what to do about strikers just throw idaho or parrott or someone in to give them a shot I guess. We're still paying robbie keane how much worse can he be? At least he'd finish from 3 yards

    Bottom of the table.

Can we even haul ourselves up to the heady heights of 4th?

Great goal tbf but Embarrassing for us

Kenny won't be sacked either as the FAI can't afford a pay out

It's not fair on Stan being in the same conversation as Stephen Kenny tbh.

As bad as he was, he wasn't at this level.

Appointing a manager from the League of Ireland has predictable result. We play like a LOI team.

So Kenny critics are themselves criticised for not being forensic accountants? Nice deflection! This whole era is based on a conceit that we can choose a prettier method of being competitive. But we just sacrificed the results for something more superficial and intangible (an impression, moral victories). And now we all pay the price ...

Dogs on the street knew the state of financial investment in Irish football, but people were too happy to get their free drinks or only care about the senior national team.

    No.
Just to put that crap peddled her all day to bed look at Stans team that day

Kenny, Finnan, O'Shea, Andrew O'Brien, Dunne, Kilbane, McGeady, Ireland , Morrison, Keane, Duff.

Coleman is the only player we have these days would get on that team

Stephen Kenny could keep losing every game for years and his supporters would still defend him unconditionally.

    It's like a cult.
