Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The sharks are circling I see. Hoping and praying for the opposition to score.
    Sad to see.

    What? Why?

    Great chance missed by Browne!

Jeez what a miss from Browne

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,232 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

All too tippy happy, no bite. One chance on target so far sums it up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,211 ✭✭✭Happy Monday

Nil Nil and Stephen Kenny will find it difficult to find cover despite RTE analysts covering up for him these past 9 months.

Doherty is a backup right back or perhaps in a back 3 at a stretch vs Lux and Aze.

    He’s just not very good.

Do you watch football? There is no way Doherty will ever play as a CB in a back three

    Great chance for browne

    Sad to see.

What are you on about . We went about 700 minutes without a goal .

    And are 0-0 against Luxembourg.

    Sharks have been very reasonable.

It feels like a friendly so far.

We so seem to have a bit more urgency last few mins

Yet he's played there at times for Wolves.

The best looking footballer on the pitch is the Luxembourg lad Thill.

    Terrible free kick.

Thank goodness we have a dead-ball specialist in Brady. Imagine where we'd be without?

Get Browne off, giving it away more times than a two dollar hooker

Maybe move Coleman into the middle?

If Pep was manager, he'd definitely be in there :P

    By the way

    We will win

    I take back 3-1

They are a very limited bunch of players really.

Looking out over the next decade Kelleher & Bazunu might be the two best and busiest Irish players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,787 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

Some of the passing has been dismal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,232 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

Apart from that chance in the first half, no one is prepared to take the ball on and get a good cross in. Surely it is a basic skill of the game.

    Luxembourg want this more.

    It is getting worse this.

Jaysus. He ran the full pitch ..no even tackle

Why do we keep passing wide every time there have been a handful of balls that could have been played through the middle that they don't even seem to be looking for

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,924 ✭✭✭KH25

We are a very ordinary team.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

The passing in the final third is killing us.

He already has in a back 4 for Ireland vs Wales a couple of months ago. Did you watch that? Why would a back 3 be off limits?

    This is worse than ****e

    This is terrible from Ireland.

It was a bad miss in the end, should really have buried it, would have been some laugh if he had scored.
    This is embarrassing stuff.

    Completely switching off defensively

Not sure of Fifa rules, but hopefully we can field both of them.

    Serbia level now against Portugal.
Maybe the worst Irish performance this decade so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

This is worse than I feared. They're in with a sniff of winning this. Our passing has been dire.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,912 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I really never though I would see an Ireland worse than the Staunton era however here we are.

Bazunu is the only positive so far

Which is a pathetic inditement of this performance

Browne has given the ball away a stupid amount of times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭The White Feather

We need to go all out attack now. its 0-0 against Lux, at home. We haven't created one chance this half yet. 30 mins left.

We need to act like the last 5 mins already before this game peters out into a draw in a must win game.

Not really surprising is it? A lot of their players have come through the youth academies of other, larger EU countries and learned to play modern football the way Kenny wants his team to play. The FA not only encouraged it but put money into the project to get their players playing outside the country which is why they have improved. Thill has been in France since he was 15 for example.

How many of our lads would a top tier Portuguese team consider capable of playing the style of football played in Liga NOS? Hardly any right now. That's what has to change.

In fairness. Stan had a way better squad

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,793 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Why the fcuk are we still playing with three centre backs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,989 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

It's what normally happens when your pool of players get weaker and weaker every few years.
