When are mussels in season?

Hi all, I am a bit confused about when mussels are in season I bought very uninspiring mussels this week and made me think about mussel seasons I did a quick internet search and I got more confused. One site says On another site they say And finally, a BBC site states thanks

I am a bit confused about when mussels are in season

I bought very uninspiring mussels this week and made me think about mussel seasons
I did a quick internet search and I got more confused.
One site says

"The season for Dutch mussels starts in late June/early July and lasts until March/April of the following year. In Denmark, the season for rope-grown mussels begins in March and ends in June. "

On another site they say

"The season for gathering molluscs in England falls in winter and early spring. "

And finally, a BBC site states

Peak season for fresh mussels is October to March.
