Great beat. Great shower groovealongability. Do I agree that this meets the posters criteria for ideal shower songs ?

    Shower music has to be...

loud. To carry over the sound of the shower
short. Two young kids, I don't get long showers!
banging. A shower is reinvigorating, so the song has to contribute to that

Its definitely loud. Its definitely short and its definitely banging. I love the little key change at 1:30. I kept waiting for that part more than anything else. Great song :)
    I'll take that!
At least you agree it meets my criteria :D

Lizzo - Good As Hell :: submitted by
    JP Liz V1

So this video. I was like... oh dear, this is gonna be some sad mopey thing cause her boyfriend left her and now she cant get on the cheerleading team and nobody likes her music and then the song started and I was like. "OMG. This is the song my kids love whenever it comes on the radio and I have to turn it up full volume in the car.!!!" I always missed who sang it but i know now and now I know who Lizzo is lol. Great song. Really enjoyed this. Excellent in the shower. Meets EN's criteria of being short and banging and I just really enjoyed this as I do everytime the kids make me turn it up and we all sing along the chorus together :D

This reminded me I'm going to visit a cat that demands cuddles tomorrow (actually sits beside you and stares you down and pokes you with a paw until you start the petting :pac:). I'm looking forward :)

This person originally submitted "Where do you go to my lovely by peter sarstedt", which is a song I adore and then he changed it to this and I was like..... 'Ooooo, I hope you didnt make a mistake...'

    You didnt. This is brilliant.

I'm normally very hypercritical of people who do cover versions of Sting/The Police songs but this is excellent. He has a great voice and performed in a reggae style which is excellent for the shower. I just really enjoyed this! Thank you for submitting this

This was great. Absolutely banging! Brilliant for the shower. Meets EN's criteria and smashes it out of the water better than he did himself. Just great singalongability, groovealongability, everythingalongability! it was the first song I listened to in this category and was a clear number 1 until the actual winner came long but a really great simple song with a great pace to it.

I just havent stopped listening to this. This is totally my jam. Just a beautiful track. Great beat. Perfect for the shower. Great groove. Love that baseline. Just magic. I'm at a loss for words to describe how much I enjoyed this track :)

ShaneU - 2 first places in a row.... that doesnt happen too often :D

Thank you everyone for the submissions to this category! On the whole I enjoyed this category the most so far. Only 1 song I really didn't like. All the rest at the least had their moments.

Not sure what I was thinking to expect when I made category 4 but I'm looking forward to getting started and seeing what has been submitted.

Tables and the like will be up in the next couple of days and provisionally planning to reveal category 4, this coming Friday :)

I think one of the key reasons for giving this latest category is that I would get a lot of songs and types of songs I wouldnt normally listen to. A broadening my horizons experience :)

    Irish Aris

Okay, this is really quite dark but I enjoyed this. I kinda reminded me of the trentemoller song that was sent in, in the last walrus. A bit kind like a nine inch nails kinda vibe to it with a bit of a dark depeche mode 80's vibe thrown in there(but of course!) yeah, this is when I started to enjoy the songs :)

I know it won't be much good to Irish Aris now for the purpose of the competition but this is fast becoming one of my favourite songs of the whole walrus for me so far. A real grower

No worries at all Rikand, glad you enjoy it.
For me the main concept of the walrus is to discover new music - placing well in the comp is just an added bonus :)

I said this about someone else, but this is exactly the sort of song I won't know how to judge when I get my Walrus rolling. It's simultaneously brilliant and terrible, and I don't know if I love it or dislike it :D

I had to double check what ethereal meant to work out my entry :D

    Ethereal
    adjective
    1. extremely delicate and light in a way that seems not to be of this world.

I've been swamped with work this week and I havent really had a chance to listen to any songs at all. No chance of a reveal tomorrow night. I'll try to get the tables up over the weekend. Hopefully by tomorrow week I'll be ready to do cat 4 :o

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,362 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

Really struggling with positioning on these songs lol - A few that are a clear enough top 3-4 for me, but the others, I just dont know where to go. Hopefully it all becomes clear before Friday night and I will remember to do that table tomorrow! omg, i keep forgetting.... :pac:

Category 4 :: 4. An ethereal or spiritual sounding song

So I liked pretty much all the songs in this category. Just a couple that fully missed the mark with me and then a couple of others that missed for smaller reasons :)

Gonna get this started and then we'll have a short intermission while i get the kids off to bed :)

This was just too slow and ponderous for me. I wasnt keen on the vocal at all. it just didnt work for me and it was a bit long.

There were so many songs going around in my head for this category, different to what I did submit, I am already having regrets
