    Group O:

    Come Together.

Wouldn't be sad to see it win the competition outright tbh.

Come Together is just a Chuck Berry ripoff.

I'd heard about that a lot during the years and Lennon always acknowledged the influence and took the line "here come old flat top" from that song, but in the cold light of day the two songs aren't all that similar to my ears - some of the vocal phrasing and rhythms, yes, clearly there's an influence - but there's way more to Come Together than that: the cool intro, the arrangement, the tasty bluesy interplay of the band, the weird menacing lyrics and atmosphere, the dynamics, the cynical falsetto vocals on the outro, and more... there's so much cool sh!t in the song beyond the Chuck Berry influence.

I disagree. The drumming is cool but Come together is a bit of a drag; Chuck's effort is more exciting, good ol' fashioned rawk n roll.

I'm not a big fan of Come Together either. It borrows too much from Chuck for my liking.

    Fun Facts

    https://wpdh.com/the-beatles-come-together-was-stolen-from-a-chuck-berry-song/
Lennon was eventually sued by Morris Levy, a music producer who owned the rights to "You Can't Catch Me". According to The Beatles Bible, Levy argued that Come Together, which contained the line "here come old flat top" plagiarised Berry's song.

The lawsuit maintained that Lennon simply slowed down Berry's song, otherwise it was the same tune.

Lennon eventually settled out of court. Part of the agreement forced Lennon to record and release three songs that were owned by Levy. Two of the songs wound up on Lennon's 1975 album Rock 'n' Roll, including a cover of "You Can't Catch Me". The third song was never released and led to another lawsuit by Levy. Lennon was eventually found in breach of contract and Levy was awarded $6,795.

Couple of n00bish spotify qs - How does one get a link to open using the spotify app rather than the web browser? By using the search and guessing the helpfully straightforward playlist name I found https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1CRbQbPeEP4aRr4a81W3lX, which is a truncated version of the above link which wouldn't open for me, but in general, how does one open a link in the app?

Also, do you get to see stats specific to your playlist? E.g., how many people listen to a song - it's one thing to appreciate some of the "innovative/groundbreaking/experimental" stuff, but might be another to enjoy listening to it.

Can you not just click on the link above on your phone and you should get an option to open it using either the Spotify app or your browser?

You are correct.. For some moronic reason, I "tested" that on the laptop  and couldn't get the desktop app to work, but yep on the phone works fine. Cheers.
