    Hi all,

Looking at getting a new telly and my parents had an ambilight television a few years back and I really liked it - as a result I'm considering the Philips 50PUS7805 and was wondering if the picture quality is good ?

I've currently got a Samsung that's just over 2 years old and has started to get white circles on the screen - Samsung don't want to hear about it as it's only a 1 year warranty, hence I want something that has a decent warranty, a decent picture and is not a Samsung. Incidentally, in our sitting room we have a Panasonic 55" and the picture quality on it is, and always was, far superior to the Samsung, so I'm also drawn to Panasonic.

Anywho - any suggestion / opinions welcome - I was to stay sub-600 Euro if I can, and 50 inch at least with 4K - thanks !!

    Thanks for the post deadl0ck!

The Philips pictures are actually really good. At that budget there aren't really many panels that pack in the same specs as the Philips. It uses a local dimming panel as opposed to an edge light so gives better brightness and contrast than other TVs in the same price range. It also has Dolby Vision support (the LGs and Samsungs in this range don't support it) so is much better for streaming apps like Netflix and Disney Plus.

To get a better panel you would be jumping to something like a 9 series Sony which has a native 100Hz panel and Android operating system but they're a good bit more expensive!

Let me know what you think!

    Kind regards

    David
