Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why did he take it on ? He’s ahead in the frame ? A very difficult pot, safety was easy .

Selby would never have taken that red on the cushion on. That's the difference.

Yeah the ultimate percentage player, least amount of risk and looks for maximum advantage. Murphy is more all or nothing.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Handed it to him on a plate, hate that kind of ending.

He got this far by being brave, can't fault him for that shot really

It's what has been said of Murphy. He plays the wrong shots at times.

Wrong shot choice on the red. Fine margins.

Hit those harder and they're less likely to go in.

Selby banishing his demons from last year. 4 titles in 8 years. A worthy winner. Well done to him. Murphy can hold his head very very high.

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,795 Mod ✭✭✭✭Say Your Number

    Incredible finish.

Selby only won one session, the 7-2 last night was the difference.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,393 ✭✭✭raclle

Great match and a great tournament. Fair play Selby

    See y'all next year

I thought Selby was going to bottle that at the last minute, asking for his line of sight to be cleared and re-addressing the pot

    Glad he won anyway

    Shame. Better play lost.

Well done Selby. Best overall player in the tournament, no question about it. Cooler head, picked his shots a lot better, made better decisions than Murphy.

Yes, we'll discuss the gamesmanship afterwards, but the way he cleared the blue, pink and black showed his mettle. Snooker is a lot more than flashy shots and he had the best mix of all disciplines. Congrats to him.

Murphy good sense of humour on the Chris Henry question.

    Nice speech Murph.

Can't believe Murphy played to pot that last red, at that speed, knowing full well he'd likely leave it over the pocket if he missed. The last thing he wanted to do was to give Selby was an easy in when he was looking a bit nervy.

Anyway, I hope Shaun can keep up the kind of form he's been producing over the last couple of weeks.

    Just thinking that.

Very magnanimous in defeat, and funny with it.

    Fair play!

I was thinking President of Ireland - Michael D's term is up shortly.

Maybe Shaun might throw his hat in the ring? :D

Shaun Murphy would tell you himself he lost too many frames by having breaks ended on straightforward shots he should have got

Good final, not much in it but Selby deserved the win.

A good final to end the snooker season.
Murphy and Bingham will be reinvigorated next season.

The negativity he plays with really annoys me but that's his style I suppose. Up to the likes of trump and Robertson etc etc to come up with a game plan to beat him next season over this format because it suits him down to the ground

Interesting that Shaun was the first up work with Chris Henry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,139 ✭✭✭Augme

I think that last res Shaun missed probably dinner up the difference between the two players. I don't think Selby would have went for it and if he did, he's have made sure to give it enough to not leave it over the pocket. Given the struggle Selby was having you'd have to feel forcing him to battle for the title at that stage would have been the smart decision.

Enjoyed that match thoroughly. The best man won, but Murph certainly did give it his all.

    Fantastic tournament overall.

The withdrawals tomorrow will be something fierce.

Timewasting and playing on for excessive snookers has to be stamped out

No problem with hard matchplay of itself

Ebdon and others showed years ago that you can use dirty tricks to knock fluent players off their stride
