If you hear the word menopause repeatedly it stops making sense.

Many probably. But at least it is a proper LL topic. Instead of some the garbage Duffy and his team throw out as relevant to peoples lives.

I listened all my life to my mother who went through an early menopause at 43 and had me living in fear of when it would happen me. She was on HRT since 43 and got breast cancer at 64 because she was never taken off the stuff! She thankfully survived and is still alive and well :-)

I went through it at 53 and it was a breeze compared to what I was expecting. Yes I got flushes but to honest I didn't focus hugely on them. I rarely get them now. The rest I put down to the ageing process, the usual aches and pains, eyesight getting a bit weak but that's the same for everyone. I run, cycle, swim, hike and do yoga . I am not carrying any weight and I feel fantastic. No loss in libido either and thankfully I never took HRT. I think exercise helps HUGELY!! I wonder was I just lucky or is it in the mind .... i.e. I never focused on it at all??

I doubt the menopause is responsible for dental health (as caller suggests)..........that's part of the ageing process!

    Glad your mum is well.

Im a male and listening to this. Not to belittle any womans experience, but many of these symptoms I get and I put it down to just aging.

We got hot flushes in our house years ago when a plumber accidentally connected the toilet cistern to the hot water pipe.

For menopause surely you'd need an Endocrinologist (hormone specialist). I wouldn't trust a GP with many things regarding hormones, just watch them prescribe cortico steroids to people who will literally lose IQ permanently if they take it.

Same as the difference between gym rats shooting Chinese Testosterone from an online guide, vs movie stars getting juiced with Endocrinologists checking their bloodwork

I've been on very high dose steroids intravenously many times and by tablet too.... far worse than any menopause symptoms , but so was the condition they were treating.

The new illness I've become obsessed with is tonsil stones, basically it's a billed up of food, bacteria etc in cavities in your tonsils and it's turns white, you then bust them like zits and extract the mank. The YouTube videos will keep you entertained of an evening.

It actually does. Calcium and phosphorus absorption fluctuate with hormone levels (As do most micronutrients and protein) so your bones and teeth don't get what they need to be replenished. Also, your bite can get misaligned as your bones shrink; this can be exasperated with conditions such as scoliosis.

Jesus that sounds like Dr pimple popper to the extreme. Not for me!
I got my tonsils out as an adult...not pleasant at all!

Because of my ileostomy and chronic slight dehydration I tend to have high calcium levels in my blood, so actually have to keep off the calcium. My bone health etc is excellent.

A massage therapist/reflexologist and a yoga teacher plugging her website. That's what we really need, not medical professionals

Oh Jesus your wan is a Reflexologist. Glad she did her research on HRT, if she researched reflexology the same way she might find out its complete quackery.

Is there anything yoga can't fix?

My mother, aged 85, once wrote down FSH on her blood test request form instead of TSH... created a lot of fun when the result came back, she was quoted by medical practice on Ray Darcy Show by secretary, having said on way out "just got the devastating news I'm infertile".

your bones shrink (or get thinner) with age anyway. You see this in men too.
I've had lots of dental issues over the years and the worst of them were in my 30's and 40's. I've had nothing major since menopause (so far thankfully!)
