Amp for multi in-ceiling speakers

Hi all,

I have in-ceiling speakers dotted around the home in different rooms. This is 2x speakers per room and in total there are 10x speakers.

Do you have anything I can wire these to, in terms of an amp? Or know of any equipment I could wire these to, before connecting to an amp you would recommend?

I’d imagine so, it’s just generic speaker wire, so it’s just about connecting those to an audio output.

I’m really new to this, so trying to find my feet with all options right now!

I’d guess €700 - €1,400 to be honest.. whatever gets the best bang for that buck!

Thanks for the post.

We do the monitor Audio IA60 priced at 1499 Euro. This can power 6 pairs of speakers in 6 zones.

You could not use a standard stereo amp to run that amount of speakers as they are really only designed to run up to 2 pairs of speakers before the risk of damage.

Anthem also have their MDX16 which is a 8 zone distributer than can also supply picture to 8 rooms as well as power 2 stereo speakers. Priced at 3150 Euro

The Monitor Audio IA60 does a very good job and we have not had any issues from the ones we have sold.

For audio via HDMI it would be something like the Anthem above.
There is no cheap way of doing this correctly unfortunately.

One thing you could do would be to add the likes of the Denon DRA800 into the mix.
You could connect your HDMI sources to this and then use the Zone 2 outputs to connect to the Monitor Audio Amp to be out put via the ceiling speakers.

You could also use the Heos App with the DRA800 and stream via it from spotify etc....

I'll have a check and see if there is a cheaper amp that can take HDMI and also has a audio pre out.

I've been doing a bit of further research for you on this.
I'm just noticing that the volume on the IA60 is on the rear and to change the volume in each Zone would need to be done by the back of the AI60.
To control this otherwise you would require a product connected to it that would have the ability to control its volume remotely.

Another product I have came across by Monitor Audio is their IMS-4 music streamer which is designed to run along with the IA60 (No HDMI though).
It does have optical inputs which would allow for you to connect your Sky box for example and output it via the speakers.
