Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has anyone been following Elanga's career so far? How is he doing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,848 ✭✭✭Julez

Donny has had some nice touches so far for a change.

Best game he has had so far....perhaps because Ole has given him the responsibility to be the main man in midfield?

Both Bailly and Tuanzebe doing well also.

Has been playing well for the u23s. Often plays similar role to Rashford, playing on the left and cutting in on his right foot.

ffs just like the last game

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,924 ✭✭✭KH25

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,924 ✭✭✭KH25

    That’s a penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,265 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

thats a peno, caught him in the side of the ankle

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,424 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

That was a possible ankle breaker.

Not with intent but just awkward contact.

Has Mata ever missed a penalty for us? He’s so composed with them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,294 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

Delighted for Mata in what is likely his last game.

Young lads equipping themselves very well I think. Both Elanga and Diallo have looked good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,844 ✭✭✭py2006

Looked a LOT worse in slow motion

We should loan him out to get more regular football really, even if it's only from January next season.

Great result to finish the season. Elanga and Amad look ready to play regular football either at United or somewhere on loan. Mejbri will be great.

Easiest win we've had against Wolves in years.

Nice to win on the last day.

Definitely a season of what if's for us, we should have been a lot closer to City, lots of silly mistakes scattered through the campaign. If we have a sensible summer of transfers we may just push on.

Fail to invest and we'll be nowhere near a second place finish next May.

    Onto Wednesday night then.

    Glazers Out!

Thought we were pretty good, especially as our 2nd string usually look like they've never met before. Bailly and Tuanzebe looked good, think I'd go with Tuanzebe and Lindelof in the final. Amad was quality, he's ready for first team football. Elanga took his goal really well and could have had 2. Telles was decent too. VDB one of his better performances. All round good performance from everyone I think. Finishing second with a win and keeping the away record for the full season. It's a good day!

The three 0-0 games we had against Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea really frustrate me. I know we don't deserve to win the league but I think we should be closer to City.

Whatever way you want to look at it finishing second is progress from Ole and as good as we could have hoped for in all honesty.

    Huge game coming up midweek.

I just hope Utd add at least 3 quality players to the squad that are first team players. I think we will need it to stand still.

Second is a very good season all things considered.

Those wouldnt be the ones that frustate me as normal enough to drop points against big 6, its the ones lost against the relegated teams that I found annoying.
But considering the challenging season where utd playing 2 games a week its remarkable that did so well.
Hopefully ole is backed and gets the players he wants to close the gap further.

So 8 points better off than last season, not massive improvement all things considered. Next season will tell a different story I fear. Chelsea have had a shyte manager for half the season and improved markedly when he was replaced. Liverpool have had a couple of injuries but showed signs of improvement towards the end and will have some of their key players back. Both will strengthen in the summer one would imagine. The EL final for us is massive, it may not be glamorous but its a chance for the team and manager to show they can perform when there is something at stake.

All things considered, it would have been unrealistic to expect "massive improvement" when we only brought in squad players and teenagers in the summer.

And yeah, because there's been nothing at stake until Wednesday.

The team have buckled under pressure many, many times so not sure why there would be sensitivity to that comment.

Have we heard of coaching? I understand we don't see much improvement in the way of the players being coached, markedly worse at defending for example but surely if Ole is to be given credit you can't continuously just point to him needing brilliant players all over the pitch? He has to improve the ones he has too. I don't think thats unfair really.

Glad to end the league campaign on a good note and happy to see some of the young lads get a chance, roll on Wednesday
