Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Owens will give Clare something soft to even it up surely. Will probably be discussed among the officials at water break

He thinks it was the correct decision

That's in the D, by his rule that's a penalty

That’s more of a goal scoring opportunity than Tipp’s one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,067 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

Goal chance he could have ran at goal where is our penalty

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,008 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

Clare keeper has been fantastic even allowing for a mistake for the goal.

He fouled the ball for a free (which was scored) and the resulting puck out went straight to Tipp who got a goal directly from it, so that's 1-1, he also let in a silly goal so that's 2-1 he's at fault for.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,008 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

That has to be a yellow on Barrett

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,008 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

That's as clear a yellow as you'll see but not given

How much has James Owens on Tipp to win.. must be substantial

The referee is wearing a Tipp Jersey.

Yeah, some silly shots, game seems to have finished, there's no bite there anymore.

The arse has fallen out of Clare since the penalty. Such fine margins.

That reffing decision was beyond bad, even beyond atrocious.

I can't remember such a decision in any sport.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,008 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

Surely that was a foul in the square for a goal scoring opportunity but he left advantage

Totally changed the game, deflated Clare completely, Tipp having the extra man meant we were just holding on, the goal then destroyed it, 2 goals in 10 minutes.

Amongst everything else.. Tony Kelly has been very quiet. (Cue a couple of last minute goals)

Tipp have done well to man mark him BUT Barrett should have gotten a second yellow, yes the first yellow was harsh, but he should have gotten a second.

How is that not a Clare penalty?

The ref is nothing else if not consistent... Consistently BAD!

Owens is a disgrace, I don't like to pick on refs but that's a disgracefully performance.

Ref is lucky Davy Fitz isn't Clare manager.

    He has absolutely screwed Clare.

Worst refereeing decision (and overall worst refereeing performance, how is Barrett stop on the field?) I've ever seen, and that's not for a want of competition.

Worst of it is that is a good new rule but this will be serious ammunition for getting rid of it on grounds that a goal scoring opportunity is too open to interpretation (I mean, technically every time you have the ball outside your own 45 is a goal scoring opportunity).

Anyway it ruined this match and Owens shouldn't still be an inter county referee tomorrow. But he will be.

That ref should have the rest of the summer off.

Probably decided it was 50/50 and both were at it and let play ho on or played advantage. Who knows

He should have some serious questions to answer after this. The ridiculous penalty that was given and the one that wasn't. Poor poor performance from Owens.

That ref should never again ref. Disgrace.

Sad to see a game at this level so obviously reffed one way and the ref deciding the game instead of the two teams on the field.

Its too open when you say inside the 21. They should have extended the D and that should be the zone. Calling a penalty for a foul on the sideline is ridiculous unless there's 3 unmarked tipp players on the edge of the square

Only way Tipp were going to win. Yet another boring, pathetic game from the Munster championship. Bar a few decent matches, it's got to be the least entertaining comp going.

Tipp absolutely were handed that "win". Nobody's gonna fear them.

Regardless of that stupid decision, we completely lost our shape and way we wanted to play in that second half. Got dominated on the ball and Tipp created more space with bringing players out to get free and get easy scores.

4 points in it in the end and we were screwed by a ref and also played poor in second half.

What a farce ... Hard for Clare when Tipp's MOTM is the ref. That joke yellow ruined the match

Christ - Tipp were well capable of beating Clare without the penalty.

The Tipp player was on his knees with his back to the ball and his arms wrapped around the Clare player, that's a foul, not a 50/50. If he didn't give it because he felt the Clare player fouled first then it's a free out, there's no advantage where you can foul and play the ball.

Proves there was nothing between the teams. A 6 point swing on the basis of two incorrect penalty decisions and Tipp should have played with 14 for last 10 minutes.

You're carrying Shanagher too. Hes doing little to nothing inside. Barely gets off the ground for ball and chases nothing. Your worst forward by far

If it was me ide be giving a free out. I can only guess at what he was thinking

Absolutely, yellow card all day, no question on that front, it was not a goal scoring chance though.

    Scored 2-4 without reply in the ten mins, went 8 points up;
In fairness, Clare put a lot of balls into the Tipp keeper’s hands

Yeah, they had to only have 1 player in the full forward line so a lot of wasted ball.
