Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Off topic but why is Michael Duignan here when Offaly are playing in the Championship ? taking the RTE pay id say

Dominating but poor wides and poor use of ball also. Good aggression and work rate though from Clare at least

I think it's his living, don't think he has a regular job.

I'm on about the same thing as you. Just have a different interpretation. Provocative isn't it?

So they didn't play well then is what your saying? 5-28 from play 13 different scorers.. go have a lie down for yourself.

Clare should be much further ahead with a biggish wind advantage.

Great impact sub but not starter

Jaysus if Shanagher had of turned up Clare would be out of sight, if he continues to get supply he will surely get going

If Clare's finishing was better they would be +15 up here. Waterford need to wake up

There is a decent breeze, but to be honest it is having no effect on the game, Waterford are miles off it and Clare have been wastefull.

Whatever happens in this game, all credit to Brian Lohan. He has uncovered some young gems who are really playing for him.

Poor Shanagher is not a natural forward - but he is a handful.

I think there's a swirl to it. A lot of shots tailing away.

Fair play to Clare but Waterford are a disaster today and it would take a miracle to get back into this game

Suppose we will have time to rebuild for the Qualifier's and hope we get a kind draw

Should definitely be doing better at his job.
He was saying that he didn't think it was a clear-cut goal chance for the penalty/sin bin.

The wording of the rule is "a goal-scoring chance" - there's no mention of it having to be clear cut and I'd argue that they can be a serious difference between a clear-cut goal chance and a goal chance.

For me a clear-cut goal chance is something that has over 75%/80% of being scored, whereas a goal chance is any time there is any chance of a goal being scored no matter how remote a chance (even 1%) is still a goal chance. The way the rule is written refs are supposed to give a penalty no matter how remote the chance - if the rules committee wanted it to be only when there was a clear-cut goal chance, then they should have written the rule to reflect that.

I've seen other pundits/commentators mention this "clear-cut" interpretation of the rule as well but someone in his position should know better.

Last years championship was winter hurling. The difference being back in summer hurling is showing.

Putting lyons on tony kelly isn't working. Waterford really miss lyons out around the middle and his not a man marker.

Clever to keep Tony in the corner so they keep Lyons away from wing back and getting forward.

Agreed. Lohan is doing very well on the line. Cahill is having a mire. He should push gleeson up on conlon and bring lyons out to 5

Not much to lose now in fairness so have to take Lyons out and risk it at least.

Hopefully not for us though. Waterford will have their purple patch at some stage so we need to keep the scores ticking over.

Waterford did fight back from a similar position in last years game v Kilkenny.

I know they are missing a few but its a very disappointing performance so far.

Clare have been solid if not spectacular

Shanagher gets fouled twice. Henry doesn't think it's a penalty.

    Henry doesn't get the rules.

We're trying to get rid of cynical play, Henry...

I thin k there point was (not agreeing with it) was the first foul should take precedence and that was outside the area for giving a penalty. I say a lot of people do not understand the new rules. Normally we get a full league + on a new rule

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭formerlyET

That kind of cynical foul by Reidy on Lyons should be carded too. This is a huge issue too - cynical play by forwards is not carded as much as cynical by backs.

That free should be overturned for the reaction by the clare players - silly.

What was the free for? Seemed like Lyones just knocked the sliotar off the ground and caught it again

Can’t believe I could be this frustrated and annoyed at my team when we are 9 points up.

    The wides are scandalous

Real lack of quality from both teams here.

One of the worst games in Munster Hurling for many a year.

Other than 98 it's always been the weakest pairing in Munster really.

60 scoring chances created between the two teams and 33 scores says it all.

Some teams seem to have taken the decision to have pot shots from 90 yards out in the hope that half of them might go over.
