    Hi all

Got quotes the following for patio and drive.

    Patio ~ 110sq m. Granite
Drive ~ 40 sq m. Granite border and stone.

    €24000 inc VAT

    - digger can’t get into the back.

Any views. Good, bad or indifferent.

That’s madness what has to be done to do patio ?

Pump concrete and crane everything ?

I'd lean that's on the high side. I got 4 quotes recently for a patio (45 sq m) and other work that ranged from 6k to 16.5k. 3 of the quotes were under 8k with one outlier being the 16.5k.

Unless there is a huge amount of heavy ground work, I think that price is top heavy but you'd need to provide some more info

    Patio
Nope - just a normal lay. Nothing mad. A drain or two to accommodate. And small step to the back door.
    Sub base, wet bed, granite.

As I say the only main issue is the narrow side access. I can accept that it’s slower but it’s only a bit of poorly laid concrete slab that’s about 20sqm. I think it would take me about two days to clear to site by myself - including grass out. Obviously sun base needs to be brought in as do all materials. I expect it to add a day or two work on top of what they could do with a digger but it’s not a mad amount of work.

    Drive
    - open driveway and then standard approach.

The €7k for the drive was the deal on offer - it would’ve been more.

And we could ‘see what could be done with VAT’ which I’m always uncomfortable with.

By my calculations (what would I know)
€50 per sq m for slabs
€10 per sq for other materials

€90 per square m for labour.
