A table showing immigration doesn't prove there is unrestricted immigration.
    There are rules regarding immigration.
The only unrestricted immigration is UK citizens and EU citizens.

I live in the UK, Close to the Manchester arena that was recently bombed so you are very wrong there kiddo.

So you were in a City where an Islamic terrorist detonated a bomb which killed 27 people, wounded 800, and traumatised many more. ( wiki ) I'm sure that it changed their opinions on terrorism, for sure. But you are unaffected? Had you actually been in the stadium, would you still feel the same?

How the hell does this translate into "unrestrcited"?

    Secondly, Yugoslavia no longer exists.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I have no idea whether Islam will change, I imagine it will be the same as Catholicism which also believes in backwards ideologies, like homosexuality is sin.
    I don't care.
My Muslim friends have no issue with gays, one of my friends, her cousin, is a gay man.

    Again:

You say "a country that just recently have throw off the shackles of religion" and yet what proportion of it said it ws Catholic in the last census? This would mean - by your logic - that the country is very much STILL homphobic and sexist.

So I'm not just asking "what is an Islamist?" but what is "practicing?" - is it just a tick in a box or does one have to blindly follow the prescibed rules?

Because on your logic, homophobic religious zealots would fit in nicely here.

    Secondly, Yugoslavia no longer exists.

23 Apr 2021 — Legal recognition to be granted for nearly 20,000 'undocumented' in Ireland ... for the purposes of pursuing Irish citizenship by way of naturalisation. ... the exploitation of these workers, who are believed to number 17,000.

So we have an estimated 17'000 "Unregulated " iE. illegal immigrants here and you say that there's no unregulated immigration ???
As for the Yugoslavia no longer existing, I strongly suggest you complain to the CSO.

I never said there was no unregulatred immigration - I asked you how the list supports your claim. You lazily linked to a CSO page with no feedback, input or explanation.

Secondly, your claim was unrestricted - not unregulated.

"Unrestrcited" would mean no application provess, no checks, just straight off the plane as if they were coing from the EU or the UK - and we both know that's not true.

If one were to relativise (to relate on thing to another) then yes, WBC is also bad people that hates gay.
But WBC doesn't actually kill gays - Iran, Yemen, ISIS do. There is really only one country in the Middle East where it's safe to be gay. Can you guess which it is?

    1 "what is an Islamist?"
A google results tells us "As it's commonly used in modern English, particularly in the press, "Islamist" means "someone who seeks to blend Islam and politics." and "desire to impose any version of Islam over society"
    2 "what is "practicing?"
A google result tells us "it is commonly understood that one practices the so-called five pillars of Islam." Google the pillars.

You need to ask your Muslims friends about how strict one must be in order to be considered a practising Muslim by other Muslims.
Also ask them if they would be ok with a Muslim friend converting from Islam to Judaism.

No idea what WBC or why it's relevant.

is hypocritical, unless you think catholics who go to church every week and will not change to accept gays, are dangerous people to have in Ireland.

    catholics
Well, if Catholic immigrants into Europe killed people by stabbings or in religious bomb attacks I'd be opposed to Catholics immigrating to Europe.
    Wouldn't you?

Ah ok - no, that was purely Timber. I haven't been a part of that discussion, so the abrreviation threw me off. I'm only using the Chruch.

Your measurement was "practicing" - and thus, anyone practicing a religion that preaches homophobia should be seen as dangerous and banned from Ireland.

Either that includes catholics (or any other denomination), or you're happy to admit muslims who don't agree with homophobia, but don't actually do anything.

    Which one?

Lol, I asked Timber if his gay-friendly Muslim friends were practising Muslims and now you have brought it to Catholics in Ireland being dangerous if they don't like gays?

There are plenty of people in Muslim countries that have no issue with gays, or may even be gay.

How about we only offer refuge to gays from MENA, and no refuge to people from MENA that aren't ok with gays?
    Would that work for you?

Has Ireland thrown its doors open to everyone? Have you proof of this?

The Minister of Justice has recently announce plans to normalise the status of an estimated 17'000 unregulated ( and therefore illegal ) Immigrants presently in the Country. Now to my way of thinking, how can it be in a properly controlled and regulated imigration system if it allows 17'000 people to slip into the Country? And bear in mind that this is an estimated figure, and could well be a lot more..time will tell. But for sure, a system so full of holes as ours, is basically throwing its doors open to everyone.

Not sure where people are getting this idea?
We all want the same thing - a well regulated immigration. We just don't agree on the numbers.

My number, for instance, is that max 10% of people in Ireland to be foreign-born.
This gives time for new arrivals to assimilate into Irish society and everyone to get used to one another.
What is your number and why that number?

I also think we should have a referendum on immigration. It's too important and has too much of an impact to be left to FF/FG and the others to do as they please.
Do you think a referendum would a fair thing to do?

I'm not sure how this has anything to do with a terrorist killing a French police assistant but as Jamel is dead we may as well keep chatting.

I guess the statement " Actions speak louder than words" is meaningless to you...but for sure, 17'000 undocumented and therefore illegal immigrants she mentioned, denotes a lot of action of the open door variety.

What do you mean by foreign born? And why would they need to assimilate into Irish society?
What do you mean by assimilate exactly?
And why 10%, any particular reasoning behind that number?
