Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I watched this video of repairing a deep scratch in the paint, but the website linked in the video doesn't work anynore.

They used a red putty, then a touchup paint with optional gloss.

Any idea where i might get this?

Somewhat off topic. My son's 2005 Yaris has quite a number of spot-size rust marks on the bonnet. Due to stones causing the chipping. Does he need to get the whole bonnet resprayed or can it be touched up? TIA.

Depends how good of a final result he wants, there's touch up kits you can buy at Toyota dealers which will match the colour 100% when the car was new, obviously with the car being 17 years old some fading will have occured over the years so the finish no matter how good applied will not be fully un-noticeable. The paint code for the car will usually be inside the driver door pillar. There's 2 layers to apply, first is the colour, 2nd is the lacquer that protects the coating, it's rather delicate process with a Tipp-ex style brush. From memory the kits are around €15-€20.

A full respray is perhaps overkill unless the damage is particularly bad where say you have 20 or 30 spots to fix that it might be better to go this route.

If the rust is bad you might need to apply rust remover to clear the spot of rust prior to appling the touch up paint.
