I'm not sure if anything can be done here but I saw some fox cubs coming out of a den on a hillside past the Old Toll House pub while travelling through Co Wicklow last night. Maybe they're fine where they are but I'm just wondering if they're a bit exposed to being killed by a farmer, esp as there are fields with sheep beside them.

I'd say the best thing to do is take pre emptive action and kill the farmer.

Jokes aside though, going by your photo, I'd the vixen has chosen an ideal spot.

It does look like a tricky enough spot to get access to, having grown up around an uncle that was very anti-fox I know how determined they can be though.

I'd say the road will be more of a risk than the local farmer / gun club. Nothing to be done about it anyway. With a bit of luck and some foxiness they'll survive.
