I don't know about Tik tok or instagram, I have zero interaction with those platforms. In some ways though the overt sexualisation in mainstream media is less now in my opinion. In the 90s the lads mags were the whole rage prominantly displayed in shops for all to see, not just the people looking it up.

Take for example Game of Thrones great show I loved it, but in the early seasons virtually every lead female did a nude scene, and there was a lot of gratutious sex and nudity. I don't think that would happen nowadays, only 10 years later.

I'm not a prude, if you want to access porn go for it. Anything involving consenting adults is fine by me but I'm happy enough there is less on mainstream media.

The issue is that its being pushed and adapted by young women everywhere due to these social media platforms. That's why lads mags etc.. aren't as much a thing anymore - why would there be a market for such things when you can go on tik-tok and see the girl next door twerking?

Tinder is another one, the constant swiping through potential partners as if they're products on Amazon. The lack of any real courtship. It's all very troubling and sad.

And as we know, men have no access, input or influence in to womens experience of social media, how their bodies are viewed or the influence men have in creating the sex industry market.

Your post is laughable for what it doesn't say.

Women. Women are the problem. /end thread.

Definitely no mention about teaching young men, or what their attitude toward women should be.

Women are there to cook, clean and look pretty - when instructed to do so.

Blessed is the fruit, and all that.

I don't get the attraction either, Like the internet is full to the brim with porn, as hardcore as you want it and as many fetishes as you can imagine. Why would you pay to look at an average young wan teasing you to some sh*t pop music?

  • Registered Users Posts: 27,164 ✭✭✭✭GreeBo

I don't think you can blame Social Media, it isn't taking off anyones clothes and taking a photo.

It's not just women though, it's men also.

You can check out my onlyfans at https://onlyfans.com/hairychestfatso.

    I really need the money.

    Ah, mens fault again. Grand.

Men's fault? Tut tut tut... don't know where you got that. Not their fault. Their moronic behaviour however.

Only an idiot gives money to some woman showing a bit of flesh as she plays a video game.

Maybe you like giving them money. But hey, a fool and their money they say ;)

So you don't reckon any women pay into this at all. Just moronic, idiot men?

I completely blame the internet and smart phones.

You can't blame men for liking sexualised women they are men ffs. You can't blame young women for wanting or reacting to attention. They are young women, its nice to be told you are gorgeous. All normal, natural.

What is not normal is the constant need for validation and constant subjection to sexualised images that social media provides.

Its happening younger and younger. There is huge focus on appearance due to taking photos all the time.

We are going a very dark road. And I honestly feel sorry for anyone born after about 2000 who have grown up totally surrounded by it.

The technology is stick, but the arm swinging it is a deeper societal rot. You don't see this as much in other countries who have the same technology, but different levels of exposure to US culture.

What do you feckin want from me?
You quoted me saying "Ah, mens fault again. Grand." - to which I reply correcting you I did not say their fault, they're just ejjits for giving their hard earned money over.

Now you say what about women who pay as well? - well you know what, also idiots. Giving some person your hard earned money as they play a video game and show of a bit of tit is stupid.

    Did that insult you somehow?
Do you give these people money? Is that the real reason you are offended?

I do agree. I am being simplistic saying its only the internet. There are other social factors that drive it. The increase in porn over the last twenty thirty years has to be a factor.

I am not overly impressed with feminisms recent turnaround sex work is work, its empowering to sell your arse.

It can be, but for many it's exploitative and can be humiliating. It's not reality to tell people that can do what you want and nobody will ever judge you.

Young girls don't have a clue how this can hurt them. Now it's completely normalized to have an only fans. It's just really depressing.

Or maybe you should realise that women are able to make their own decisions and don't need you to teach them what they should think based on what you think?

But they are not making there own decisions, they are being led to believe that this is how they should be in society these days.

On the radio the other day at about 4.30, some cardi b song came on where she was singing about "if a guy had a twin, she would let them do a train" now I don't know about you but I don't think that is the kind of ****e a 12 year old girl should be listening to,let alone aspiring to,

Also cardi b and that WAP song, Russel brand called it a celebration of female sexuality,
    A role model? I don't think so.

Women have independent thought and their own agency - if vapid morons like the Kardashians and CardiB and thousands of “influencers” are espousing behaviour they think is worthy in a role model that’s up to them I suppose.

The whole insta obsession seems quite insidious to me.

It’s all for show, very much “Hey everyone I’m living my best life(tm) look at all the holidays I go on, look at all the faddy meals at I eat at places like the Happy Pear after going to the gym and getting my squats in, look at my new ASOS haul #slay #queen” etc etc seems like a load of empty, vacuous bull**** to me but they’re really grabbing it with both hands

They're free to make their own decisions.

The decision to posts pictures and videos of your arse on tiktok is a bad decision.

Defending that as a lifestyle choice in some attempt to appear progressive is puzzling.

We're being told that we need more women in traditionally males dominated fields but at the same time getting some sucker to pay you to wiggle your arse is also feminism in action.

    Glazers Out!

Have you ever listened to rap music of any kind before? :pac:

It's amazing to think how attitudes have changed so dramatically in recent years. I remember the uproar when a recording of a girl performing oral sex at a concert was made public, now the creation and selling of pornographic content is normalised for many.

Each to their own, but it wouldn't be for me at all.

Tbf I dunno that I ever saw someone like Biggie Smalls lionised as an icon of female empowerment in the way Cardi B is

Just because its ubiquitous in rap music doesn't mean its not degenerate. Just like OnlyFans isn't total sleaze because lots of girls have it.

I'd love if men stopped paying attention to this type of stuff tbh.

I'd hate my son to be financing some young wan through these means and I'd hate for my daughter to be making money that way. You want better than involvement in that type of stuff for your children, there's a whole world of possibilities to explore and we use the wonders of modern technology to look at each others bodies, and that's after decades of free pornography being available on the Internet, people are paying for stuff that's free already, christ we're a simplistic species.

What’s so puzzling, you asked another poster if they’ve ever listened to rap in response to them mentioning the very explicit lyrics of Cardi B’s songs.

Rappers may be explicit yes but they’re not put forward as supposed feminist role models in the way Cardi B is - Biggie singing about women getting their titties out or what have you is probably taken with a pinch of salt by young female listeners, he’s a gangster rapper after all what do you expect. Cardi B however singing about wet ass pussies etc is put forward as a symbol of female empowerment, so they’d be more likely to latch onto that as an acceptable role model. It’s more impactful coming from her.

One whole part of me is jaded with all this shyte for very unfashionable reasons like morality, and having personal self respect, and not being abused and wrung out by the commercialisation on the basest of sex instincts in a crumbling civilisation, etc :pac: But those are not the unfashionable reasons I would give a young girl. It would be this -
Outside of the big stars the vast majority of people earn very little selling their sexiness. I think some of the expansion of the business is due to a lot of people working in it not being very smart. If one was smart and saw the earnings tables and the truth of the economic reality then why would one publicly fiddle with one's fanny and have it forever burned on the digital record for a measly few bob.

    Yes lots of it,
But a few years ago you would not have heard this on a popular radio station in the middle of the day,
But apparently this is ok now,

:pac: so in short "it's bad cos it's a woman" let alone the likes of DMX rapping about gay bashing etc - Im guessing your response above is the equivilent of - 'oh no, boys are smarter than girls - they wouldn't latch on to that stuff'. Can you not see the gymnastics you're applying here?

So are you saying the full explicit version of the song is played in the middle of the day, on radio? or is it a radio edit?

Porn is extremely destructive, and the powers that be know it.

When the Israelis capture Palestinian territory, do you know what one of the first things they do is? They capture the TV stations and broadcast porn to the residents.

Just because your opinion considers it degenerate, does not make it so -same with the sleaze comment tbh.

As a punter this just means more and more beautiful girls for me to choose from. I applaud it.

The Tiktok to Instagram to escorting pipeline.

The 'youthful playboy to porky sugar daddy to lonely old codger with a dribbly penis' pipeline. ;)

It is objectively degenerate and sleazy. Just like sunsets are pretty and puppies are cute, it has been viewed this way by the vast majority of cultures and societies for most of history.

  • Registered Users Posts: 81,220 ✭✭✭✭biko

Sure, I read elsewhere on this site someone wanted to give up their career in nursing because their onlyfans was paying so well.

As long as men are paying you will get women selling.
I don't agree with it but it's really not up to me.

I'd just call it a prudish view, but then again - I don't see sex or sexuality as a bad or dirty thing.
