Madagascar is the largest island country in the world (assuming that Australia is a continent).
Bern's flag and coat of arms contain a bear, and bears have been kept in the city's bear pit, since at least the 15th century.
Santo Domingo has a population of nearly 3 million making it the largest city in the Carribean by population, and Hispaniola the most populous island in the Carribean.0 -

Though the map of Australia the continent includes PNG (and, being anal, because I've a big score coming up now!) Tasmania, so Australia still isn't both an island and a continent. (At best there's two separate entities with the same name)0 -
