Yes - very efficient....first time I ever remember it being on time.

Thankfully the minister saw sense, looking forward to doing some crop protection and vermin control.
    What did you buy cookimonster?

Hard to beat the flavour of a crop fattened Wood Pigeon in a few months time - tbh I find them usually far tastier than any pheasant

Speaking of decoys, lets see if we could get Crow decoys off the banned from use list here? Might be time, for once to go proactive with a govt body?

Applications for various licenses for hunting-

    In particular-
    Wildlife Acts 1976 To 2018 - Section 35
Application For Licence To Use Decoys, Lures, Scarecrows.

In my submission and comments relating to the derogation I raised the issue of decoys. I suggest that "shooting over decoys" be added to the methods of control.

On the topic of section 35 permissions I was refused permission to use decoys for shooting rooks, despite me holding the license to do so the year previously.

What exactly is a section 35 permission?

I was the same, previous licences for corvid decoys, refused on grounds they were only issued for scientific use.

The Dept even wanted to issue me a license for pigeon decoys which I politely told them I didn't need under the current regs.

With the exception of pigeon and duck decoys anything else needs a licence. This includes any scaring device- ribbons , mirrors, flags, traditional Scarecrow etc etc and most likely the modern use of kites. Lures would include any form of an object to lure prey into a trap or hunting situation.

I often wonder were gas bangers /guns included in a section 35.

Decoys are also allowed for geese.

I also had a section 35 licence to shoot corvids for years...refused last year.

I rang them about it...the guy told me that -

"the only way crow decoys will be allowed is if the hunters, and particularly the hunting organisations, kick up enough of a fuss about it".

Last section 35 issued to me was accompanied by a bag return ..... after that my next application was denied.

When I explained that I had previous ones, I was told they were issued in error and it was illegal to use said decoys.
They actually told me to apply for a sec42 to use crow decoys. Again I had to point out the fact that a Sec 35 was there for use of decoys.

I gleaned from my conversation with them they weren't going to rock the boat and that these blanket decisions were coming from one or two individuals.... I am not pointing the finger at the Greens as I've had experience with wildlife rangers who were obviously anti hunting.

Don't get me started on applying for a section 36-
The Minister is empowered, under Section 36(2) of the Wildlife Acts 1976 – 2018, to grant licences to hunt using a mechanically propelled vehicle specifically for ‘Educational, Scientific or Other Purposes’.

    Yet the NPWS state -

'However no such hunting can be carried out during the day or at night using a mechanically propelled vehicle.'

..... they conveniently ignore the 'or Other Purposes'
