I didn't say it was the reason, but it will stop it spreading further.

Even bolted after four months, people will look for any excuse to scapegoat traditional pubs and keep them closed. How dare they have notions above their station, serving alcohol in a regulated environment and actually earning a living. And the East German stasi would be proud of the Garda hotline in Donegal, reporting your neighbours for something so innocuous as a garden party should have a permanent social stigma attached. "There goes the rat, aye chuck 150 hospitalisations out of 5 million and they want to obsessively track case numbers. No, me neither".

A hotline for covid offenders....waste of time...no point waiting until they offend...what they need to do is offer the population a reward for information on potential offenders, the cops can keep a record on all them, observe them, wait until the granny hugs her grandkids and BAMB..."you are coming with us lady!!!".... the cops will already be there...hiding in the neighbouring field.

Are they going to wash their hands and don a mask before handing out the beatings?

Risk-averse violent thugs. They smash your collar bone with a baseball bat then give you a quick wipe-down with some sanitiser before breaking your jaw.

What is the Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien talking about a "significant shutdown of construction" now on the Six-One. You would think his advisors would be reading this thread and let him know, there was no shutdown at all.

He is trying to make excuses for not building enough affordable housing.

Tom Parlon has dropped him in it though.
Mr Parlon said that builders would say they have built about 4,000 houses during the first quarter of this year and there is a potential to build 12,000-14,000 before the end of the year, bringing the total to 18,000 or 20,000 at a push

Again none of that is my opinion.

But its clear that people are concerned about Donegal, if you take your average tweaker that was screaming about India, they simply see news now and will scream Donegal, even thou poor saps will never ever have a reason to go there or visit, but they will make it their life mission to tell anyone that listens about the fears they have

Wtf are you on about? "tweakers".."Screaming about India"?

I presume you know that a "Tweaker" is slang for "a methamphetamine addict"

I damn sure many of those living in Donegal are sick to the back teeth of those ignoring restrictions with the result that they may not get to open up like the rest of the country. Bizarrely you seem to think they're all methamphetamine addicts screaming about India!

That surely qualifies for first prize for the most truely daft comment to date....

    What’s bizzare about it?

How the **** can one go around handing out ass kickings in Donegal if they can’t stand within 2m of someone or make non essential journeys

Are they going to wash their hands and don a mask before handing out the beatings?

As I said, the only ones fit to hand out beating’s won’t be concerned about Covid

    Yeah, not bizarre at all

Not much innocuous about a rate per 100,000 of 675 in The Milford area and 594 in Letterkenny when the national 14 day incident rate is 122.5.
Everybody knows what has been going on in those areas now for months and they are sick and tired of it.
At this stage the could care less if it did take the Stasi to sort it.

Are the hospitals unable to cope in the north west or something?

Is it a fantasy of some to punish people for doing what society is built upon?

How many cases is that outside of the per 100000 rate?

Society is built upon, at the very least, having a bit of respect for your neighbours.
Do you somehow believe that just because Letterkenny hospital may be able to cope is some kind of excuse for not having that respect for their neighbours ?

If the neighbours are concerned the need to mind themselves

And yes, lockdowns are about protecting our health service, not masking sure Mrs Murphy isn’t gasping out the window in disgust

Don't need the stasi when neighbours are being encouraged to report their own neighbours.

East Germany Letterkenny here we come!!!

So as far as you are concerned everybody should just live there lives regardless of Covid-19 or anybody else.
Tell me, how would you have seen that panning out over the past year ?

You sound like the kind of person that walking past a kiddie playground and seeing a bunch of yobs smashing it to pieces would regard it as no concern of yours. Even when your own kids used that playground.

I know the €9 meal fiasco is not returning but has there been any clarification on time limits, seating only, no sport on tv etc or has all that gone out the window?

I'd imagine it will be seating only in pubs for a while.

Hopefully a lot of it is gone out the window and become farcical memories in your heads

Personally can't see the opening hours going back to normal just yet (when they do reopen) esp with the outdoor service for June maybe 23.00/23.30 last orders 7 days a week with the extension to midnight/00.30 close when indoors reopen

Deff be seated/table service only with max 6 per table, TVs were always on in most places and no idea about gigs/djs etc.

Seems to be very little issues coming from the UK/Israel regards hospitality reopen

You don`t think that perhaps with a 14 day incident rate of 209 per 100,000 the highlighted may be partly due to that.

209 per 100k is nothing in the great context of things. Theres countries with fewer restrictions with higher case numbers than that - theres even countries with higher case numbers than Donegal open for business.

The snitch line is just an excuse to turn neighbour against neighbour. An Irish solution to an Irish problem.

The two areas in question do not have rates of 209 per 100K. One has 675 per 100K. The other 594 per 100K.

If you had a neighbour that through his could not give a fcuk attitude was endangering your ability to take part in activities open to everyone else, would you still be as happy to just smile about it and say "sure what harm is he doing really" ?

Meanwhile, Mr Martin also said that he hopes to see supporters back in stadiums this summer - but says public health officials are "not enthusiastic” about antigen tests.

"Not enthusiastic" means "can't be arsed".

Half the article (the second half) is covid related:
Meanwhile, Mr Martin also said that he hopes to see supporters back in stadiums this summer - but says public health officials are "not enthusiastic” about antigen tests.

With under-age players returning to training last week, Mr Martin said there was a worry about people's mental health as non-elite adults prepare to return to playing fields.

While Leinster Rugby had an offer to host a trial match with supporters was turned down the Taoiseach said there are plans being developed to get people back into stands.

Minister Jack Chambers is working with public health officials on “extensive protocols” to get people back attending games.

“We will be trialing some events, you’re probably looking at July,” Mr Martin said.

Mr Martin added that while adult games at non-elite level are set to resume next month, there are no immediate plans for indoor sports like basketball to resume.

“The summer is going to be outdoors,” he confirmed.

No comparison at all - would I stop yobs destroying a playground?

    100% I would.

Would I care about my neighbours having a party during a pandemic which in all fairness isn't really as dangerous as we are made out to believe?

    Not at all.

Maybe I posted this in the wrong thread?
I thought this thread was about restrictions being relaxed?
