That's that folks. No indoor hospitality this Summer. Possibly for all of 2021 if cases increase as predicted. This was our only shot.

Book yere flights for July 19th. Actually don't. That probably won't happen either.

The thing is there IS a seasonal aspect to Covid so coming into autumn we will have to be more cautious in terms of opening up

No idea, but for all others if you do not have a vaccine passport, proof of a recent infection or a negative test within the previous 72 hours you cannot enter any bar, restaurant, or public building.

No agreement at cabinet so 2 weeks to try figure something out

    https://twitter.com/newschambers/status/1409830517348913155?s=20

In fairness to them, it's not as if they had months to work this out. 2 weeks should do it.

I personally would be fine with that. Nobody is forcing them to be vaccinated. In fact, pubs and restaurants will probably be better off without loony anti-vaxxers around.

If people want to live in a conspiracy-theory delusion, that’s their choice. But it doesn't mean we have to respect it or accommodate them in normal society.

What's a normal society? And what kind of people are accepted in this normal society you have in your head?

    Answer very carefully...

A contemptible level of disdain being shown here for businesses that have already struggled so much. Sure just hold on another two weeks there while we get our shít together.

    This government is utterly pathetic.

what can i say for once I'm not completely against what Nphet have to say! There has to be distinctions made between those vaccinated and those not. I'm currently not due to age

I don't see the problem, this should be the start of a message to say once you are vaccinated you can resume life as you were, no restrictions at all for vaccinated people fully within the next 2 months has to be the goal though.

Vaccines are obviously optional but there has to be a reward for taking it and consequences of not. Should be no delay though, open up to fully vaccinated people from tomorrow for any business that wants to open like this. scrap the half 11 tables of 6 bull**** too and the same for outdoor.

The whole spin the government are putting out that the never expected this advise is just a continuation of the **** show, surely this was a possible option. Let the vaccinated resume life fully.

No there doesn't. Restricting access to society on the basis of your medical status is obscene. Incredible that people are so beaten down now that they see it as quite reasonable.

People who oppose summer restrictions due to the seasonal nature of Covid are called conspiracy theorists around these parts

This is the end of Fianna Fail. They have completely alienated their traditional voter base and the party is close to collapse. No small business owner in rural Ireland will vote for them again. They are completely and utterly toast.

    It's over for Michael Martin.

So, all Cafés, Restaurants etc would need to ban children from indoors then ?

Yeah kids high risk in restaurants, only safe when 30 squeezed into a classroom.

Is it 15 months (with a few weeks in Sept/at Christmas) that these business have been closed for indoors, and counting? I'm amazed any of them can even consider reopening at this stage.

I don't see what 2 weeks does apart from an agreement whereby it all becomes purely advice as has been suggested this morning

If this never happened, and someone made a dystopian sci fi movie about everything we've had to deal with, people would say: "this is insane, how could humans fall for this?". Yet our reality has shown us that many people fall for it, and not just that, many people see zero issue with it.

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

Denmark have the same proportion of vaccines administered as us, and a similar population.

In fact, we might even be ahead of them in vaccine stakes

The gaslighting of the public by NPHET is reprehensible

Everyone can see what's going on in other countries

I've a feeling the public might react differently this time

These people have never known anything other than their wages arriving in their account every week/month

they know nothing of the struggle of running your own business

I tell ye this much, the presser later today with the three musketeers (possibly 4 is Stephen Donnelly crawls out of his cave) will be something else.

Or will they all weasel out of it? Wouldn't be surprised. Incidentally when's the next NPHET presser?

No restrictions. No need for a pass etc. Just general advice to keep kids at home if they are sick/unwell etc.

    Wow

That outcome from cabinet is completely unsatisfactory

    Embarrassing

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,697 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

So no indoors until August, and even then it will only be for people who have got their vaccine.

Another punch to the face to the under 40s who are currently waiting 6 months to be allowed to register for a vaccine appointment, let alone actually get one vaccine to even start to be qualified to sit inside and eat a meal.

    Fact

Not true. There's one place I know of, not some mickey mouse cafe, that has said they're not going to open until all their staff are vaccinated, even if they were allowed open tomorrow.

Unspecified date?????? get on to fvck with that sh1t, we are a joke everybody else is open

Also not true, and I'm sure you do know that there's other places introducing, or reintroducing, further restrictions.
