Leo is summing up today with the words "hope" and "honesty".

I'd have gone with "shower" and "cúnts" personally.

    Hope for whom?

This will inevitably lead to a lot of businesses ceasing to trade.

Not comparing this to famine, just trying to explain why Irish Govt is being so cautious. We have no experience in dealing with national emergencies with high death tolls.

We truly are a pacified people.

People took to the streets in January and were met with pure vitriol. They were shamed as far-right lunatics, as granny-killers, as anti-science, and as conspiracy theorists.

Now we see exactly what they were protesting about. Livelihoods are being decimated. I could understand measures being taken pre-vaccination, but there is no justification any longer for the measures these zealots are taking.

He had the absolute gall too to mention, out of nowhere, that they’re building lots of houses- I slept terribly again last night while stressing about getting a place- seriously go f*** yourself Micheal.

Such a nuanced take. You're clearly a deep thinker.

It's a whole range of indoor activities.

Simpletons who still believe it’s all about “being able to go for a pint”

No point in even conversing with them to be honest.

Even if you don't drink, you should be appalled at personal freedoms being curtailed over dodgy figures and even more appalled that government is effectively in the jaws of overpaid bureaucrats.

According to Leo NPHET have apparently set a pathway for reopening for hospitality and entertainment. Strange, because it looks to me as if they've done the exact opposite.

Livelihoods and jobs are gone, but continue with your straw man argument if it helps your superiority complex

Irish government is not cautious in 2021 because of the Famine.

I said it the other day. If they delay, it won't be a couple weeks. This will go on till after the bank holiday.

    Useless shower of wánkers

Did you not bother listening to the update? All organised indoor activities postponed including kids summer camps, sports training etc with not an idea what's happening other than "we plan to have a plan by the 19th".

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,037 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

This kicking for touch until the 19th is some sham

As if the government will have a workable plan in under 2 weeks when they haven't planned for indoor dining since last December

    Beyond useless

25% of people in the state are under 18. So they cant get a vaccine.

Another 10% of over 18 wont take the vaccine.

We ain't opening up for years. Time for NPHET to admit this is their thinking.

  • Registered Users Posts: 870 ✭✭✭Sofa King Great

So the unvaccinated 20 year old working in a bar will be telling the unvaccinated 30 year old that they can't come in - neither of whom will have been offered a vaccine

And here I was booking a break away in Dingle for August thinking “sure we’ll be well on our way back to normality by then”, not so sure now :-(

Not to worry folks. An extra 25 people might be allowed into Croke Park by the year 2055, if they are 500 m apart and are wearing hazmat suits

It's trying to reach the end sooner, agree not about drink completely never said it was, but a huge increase in numbers sets everything back, kids can train outdoors play games and socialise now. That means more to me than people drinking or eating indoors. If we proceed the way some people want we'll be gone backwards instead of forward by August.

Gav Reilly asking MM why we're going against the rest of Europe. Martin's response, predictably, is along the lines of "NPHET NPHET NPHET, NPHET NPHET".

Are we now entering a two tier society???
    The vaccinated and the un-vaccinated.

Will the vaccinated get special wrist bands and stickers to prove they're superior?

Exactly what I'm saying. I'm saying they are cautious because we have no history of dealing with natural disasters with high death tolls, and are nervous about how people will react. Famine happened to be 1st example I thought of as most recent natural disaster in Ireland's history.

And this was secondary to a stretched health care service, all in answering someone asking why Govt are so cautious

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,211 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Ah yeah. The summer is gone lads. And then we'll be back into increased restrictions for the winter.

We have experience of it with TB. Almost 10,000 people died from TB between 1950 and 1960.

A government afraid to rule and a media that refuses to question.
This is a ****ed up state of affairs
