    Shizuoka

Mostly for the description, that's really cool :)

Stylised map of the prefecture and Mount Fuji. Blue stands for the sky and the Pacific Ocean and orange for sun light, passion and unity of people.

Shizuoka as the Mt. Fuji in orange looks really nice against the blue.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,777 ✭✭✭KathleenGrant

    Aaaaaaaaagh Nitwit!

Was just ready to post the same

    Shizuoka cos what Nitwit said.

Mark the calendar cos that's it for agreeing.

I admittedly haven't been keeping abreast of things but are these two really two of the four best flags that Japan has to offer?

Nope but if only a small number of people vote we can't complain about the result.

    We have our first finalist.

    Shizouka advances to the final

    Semi Final 2

    Ehime

    thumb2-flag-of-ehime-prefecture-japan-4k-silk-flag-ehime.jpg

Yellow stands for happiness, green for peace and white for simplicity and purity. The mon represents orange blossom, the prefectural flower.

    VS

    Fukuoka

    thumb2-4k-fukuoka-flag-japanese-prefectures-3d-waves-flag-of-fukuoka.jpg

Stylised hiragana of ふく (fuku). It also represents plum, the prefectural flower.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,509 ✭✭✭Purgative

    Ehime a colourful charming flag

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

Again, really like both, but going with Fukuoka as the knot is very nice, though if it's meant to represent a plum then Japan should look at those radioactive rays around there if that's the shape their plums grow in!

Ehime Not a fan of either tbh but will go with Ehime

Fukuoka - the infinity plum flower for the win...

Fukuoka - the knot is quite flowing and pleasing. Ehime was a nice novelty flag but it doesn’t feel especially Japanese to me.

Yeah, I think this sums up my view too. Surprised this is a semi; there were better ones earlier in the comp I thought.

    Anyways, Fukuoka

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,379 ✭✭✭davetherave

Fukuoka, for the same reasons as Earthhorse said.

  • Registered Users Posts: 86,080 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

Ehime more a spring summer vibe

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 22,366 CMod ✭✭✭✭Pawwed Rig

    Ehime prefer the colour scheme

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

Our second flag has been planted in the final.

    Fukuoka advances to the final

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,777 ✭✭✭KathleenGrant

    Ehime
Pretty and colourful and attractive to me because of that. But that's most likely a western point of view.

    Fukuoka
The colours are not as pretty and the blossom symbol probably not as obviously attractive ad Ehime but the "infinity" feel so satisfying.

    I'm voting Fukuoka

Oops late but didn't matter anyway

    Here's how the final votes went down;

Fukuoka took the lead via Earthorse 1-0

quickbeam levelled it up then 1-1

ari101 went for Fukuoka to make it 2-1

Then it happened! barna77, Cosmo Kramer, Purgative, Zaph, JP Liz V1, Harold Numerous Shortchange, cdeb and Uncharted went for Shizuoka making it 8-2

Citizenpain grabbed one back for Fukuoka before Kathleen Grant hit back for Shizouka. 9-3

Davetherave mercy killed Fukuoka making it 10-3 in the end to our winner Shizouka.

    Ah, too late!

    Nice winner though

Cheers Mackers - I got to see very, very little this time but it was nice to drop into the few times I managed

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,509 ✭✭✭Purgative

    A worthy winner.

Even if it does resemble half a goldfish :pac:

Massive respect to you Omackeral for another EXCELLENT tournament.

    Fair play man. 10/ 10.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,835 ✭✭✭ari101

Thanks Mack, I'm happy with that winner, even if I voted for the runner up.
I enjoyed these flags and finding meaning in the interesting shapes :D

Just a reminder that this happened in the Shizouka Prefecture. I'm disappointed in all of you that voted for it. :p

    Thanks Mack, another interesting tourney.
