I would agree with you if there is a place selling takeaway points there should be bins from the premise around who sells them if you walk away then it is then your litter and you wait until you find a bin to dispose of them

There were fairly big crowds around my local last night but not a bit of rubbish around this morning. I didn't see any bins and there were no council cleaners around, so I imagine that either the people cleared up after themselves (unlikely) or the pub hired people to do it when they closed. A possible solution to the litter issue.

I own a shop in George's St. Arcade, I wasn't there yesterday but was today.
I left at 6ish and it was surprisingly quiet around the area as I was expecting much of a muchness from last night.
Nothing like what I saw on line last night.

William Street busy, not as busy as last night. Got cleared out by the Gardai around 9ish tonight

The road to every beach in Dublin was rammed today, great to see.

Spent a while on Bray seafront today myself, businesses doing a roaring trade with ice creams, drinks etc. Busiest I've seen the seafront in a long time, fantastic to see & local businesses getting back on their feet

Ha, i did actually see that one, its clearly a very recent installation, it's so pristine.

Nice one. good to see. I think to stop a repeat of all that rubbish dumped etc indoor dining/drinking should be open from this friday.would solve a lot of the hassle.

Half as many people in hospital compared to this day last year and close to 3 million doses given out, and the CMO wondering why people are completely losing it at this point.

The reopening plan is a dead horse, young people are getting on with their lives and there will be a mass exodus in the next month to kinder countries where they can eat drink and be merry as normal.

Outdoor should have opened by now and indoor in the next couple of weeks. Over 4 million doses will be given out by the time we can sit inside a restaurant, that’s just baffling. Whatever data is backing these restrictions must be classified, because anything I’ve seen points to us being painfully slow with our reopening, possibly to the point of negligence when you consider what’s at stake. How much revenue will we lose to the north alone in the next two months?

Looks like the CMO has got his wish! Some of of tomorrow’s front pages, I assume the rest will follow! It’s all about doom and the fourth wave!!! In contrast you’ve the examiner running with 2 polar opposite headlines! One is ahhhhhhhh Covid! The other is we need to boost to economy because of covid so spend loads!!

As soon as the 60 yrs plus cohort and pre existing conditions had their first shot things should have started opening.

Someone mentioned Event Management earlier in the thread, I think this is absolutely one of the best ideas I've heard in the Pandemic or for coming out of it. Seeing as its not looking good for Irish festivals this summer but hopefully we might get pubs, sessions and a few indoor gigs back. All the security and event management and festival volunteers will have nothing to do, get Festival Republic and MCD to work with NPHET and the Government. Get stewards and security in the street to help control a bit social distancing and common sense. Maybe this might happen with the test events being planned.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

All or some? Because there's still people with underlying conditions waiting for a first dose.

We have already started reopening, or would you have preferred all pubs, nightclubs, stadiums etc... opened right away, max capacity etc...?

It makes a nice soundbite just saying we should have started opening, but please, provide the details.

Has Tony opened a tout line for Dublin yet? I saw hundreds of people clustered outside a shopping centre today which shocked and concerned me.

Or are those things only for places like Donegal?

You should ask the dogs on the streets of Dublin for their 2 cents on recent events

    No soundbite.

The country should be 100% open to those fully vaccinated, and also to people who have received their first dose of some of the vaccines.
Indoor dining, cinema, gyms, travel etc all fully open to those fully vaccinated.

The idea that someone fully vaccinated can’t sit in Croke park or any other stadium and watch a match is just plain stupidity.

People under 30 with no underlying conditions are not at any greater risk from covid as they are a litany of other diseases that we have no such measures in place for.

If young people are good enough to be expected to work in the service industry unvaccinated at the moment then they are good enough to meet their friends and socialise knowing that granny has been vaccinated long ago.

Time to give over with the fear mongering, unrealistic expectations of people and over hyping of the actual effects of covid on the unvaccinated cohorts that still exist.

It’s high time people moved on.

Ok you're looking for a vaccine passport per se, so it will penalize young people, who will be last to be fully vaccinated. I thought we went through this on here, there's zero appetite to to allow fully vaccinated people benefits like that. Mainly as it will be seen as penalizing unvaccinated people.

Expected to work... ah here, work is optional, they are not being forced to work ffs. If they were given a choice, keep hospitality closed longer until we reach heard immunity and they are all vaccinated, or open slowly and cautiously... what would they choose? You obviously speak for them.

There's no issue with anyone socializing outside. The issue is a total disregard to social distancing and/or numbers involved. Even pre-pandemic, those scenes in Dublin would never have been acceptable, but some start throwing around the fact they have been cooped up so long as a justification for it. I'm sorry, there's no excuse for it.

You have to remember, if **** like that is allowed or not called out, next weekend it would be even worse.

It kinda does penalise unvaccinated people as it is and could eventually head that direction, a lot of anti vaxxers out there. Vaccinated won’t have to endure the expense of testing before travelling come July. It was great to see the government make a point that they weren’t going to pay for these tests when the vaccines are free.

    Nothing to do a passport.

People are vaccinated, it’s plain to see the merits of the age approach.

Just open up everything and let the vaccinated do as they wish indoors, and the unwashed outdoors etc etc.

I don't like MM nor the tone the CMO took but for the love of god read past the headlines before getting outraged.

Any politican that's been asked a question since yesterday has been asked a loaded question, such as if theres a major spike in cases will you review the next opening, they've all said yes, what else would you expect them to say ? Their hardly going to say no

As for MM the indo has fished for headline there again, MM spokesman said each phase is reviewed before we move on and if there was a major spike then they might have to delay. Again nothing said there that's unexpected, yet the Independent have ran the headline, "July reopening ‘may be reviewed’ if people don’t follow rules" . It'll be reviewed anyway ffs. If you actually read the comments made nobody has said anything outlandish

Ask a loaded question that you know there's only 1 answer for in order to get your headline, journalists doing what they do for a sound bite.

Yeah they're such dicks. The situation is constantly under review. The government can't say it isn't or that they would never change tack. This attempt to stir the emotions of the public by various media outlets is gutter level journalism at its worst.

    There's really not.

Any (Irish) poll on it has found that they don't exist in great numbers, < 5% of the population, they just make a lot more noise proportionately.

Anti-vaxxers in Ireland are very much a small group of fringe nutjobs with very little influence. It's just easy to get frustrated with the amount of noise they make.

    This.

"Tanaiste, if we lose control of cases again and get a 4th wave, will we need to go back into lockdown?"

(Leo, very much wanting to play down any suggestion of going back to national lockdown): "Well, local lockdowns are an option available to us if necessary"

Headline: LOCAL LOCKDOWN WARNING FROM TANAISTE AMID FEARS OF A FOURTH WAVE

This 100%. Also the line that the journalists use "so what you're say is....". Attempting to put words in both politicians and medical experts mouths. It's p!ss poor interviewing and the real message is lost but they get their headline and get to keep the fear narrative going
