I'd love to know what "system" they are coming up with to allow the vaccinated attend indoor dining? The EU Green Cert would seem most logical but perhaps we will instead spend eleventeen billion on a different system.

And then it wont work anyway

Complete bulls*it from MM! Some leadership lol.

This is the straw that broke the camels back for me. I’m done with obeying the restrictions now.

Never thought I’d say it but if there is a protest I’d go

Spineless. More proof, we don’t have a functioning government any more.

It's clear what the policy is now: Discriminate on the basis of who is vaccinated.

Those vaccinated will be getting their freedoms back (indoor dining, foreign travel, etc. . ) on July 19th and those not will just have to STFU.

A disgraceful way to coordinate any national response which requires social cohesion.

Travel yeah but they're postponing indoor dining outright for everyone, until they come up with a workable solution. No date given.

They will have the plan drawn up by the 19th, we still don't know what the reopening dates might be.

so tourists can fly in from July 19th but wont be able to eat or drink anywhere indoors? and we can fly to paris, rome etc and drink and eat in restaurants but just not in our own country. WTF is going on here?

Donnelly hasn't a clue what to say on RTE,if it wasn't so serious you could only laugh

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,485 ✭✭✭harr

So on a family holiday for example the vaccinated parents can eat inside but kids have to stay in car park talk about killing the staycation mantra

Bryan Dobson asking very straightforward questions and Donnelly is clueless.

Haha so covid passports will be a thing after all . Just for getting beans on toast and coffee
That's what people wanted, isn't it? Like some places on the continent that allow indoor dining?

NHPETs projections for deaths is actually laughable ! Where in jesuses name did they drag those figures from ???

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,805 ✭✭✭An Ciarraioch

The ICU and death scenarios all seem highly improbable, to put it mildly:

They really should be made produce their data, considering by August how many over 40 will be fully vaccinated.

Stephen Donnelly actually quoting the NPHET modelling?! Honest to God. How can anyone hold those models up in any esteem let alone use them to make a decision re the future of our country.

I do think parts of Greece & Tenerife have outdoor only also. My issue is what are the metrics used to signal they can reopen? There’s extremely low numbers in hospital atm.

The young are unvaccinated peasants, forced to pay back the largest covid bill in the eu for the rest of their lives if they stay in this place

They gave up the most to protect others while watching others give up a bit to protect themselves.

Homeownership is now only a dream to most of them , in no small way because construction was closed here for almost half a year

They can however, wait on tables in outdoor facilities while those vaccinated can regale them with holiday plans for the months ahead

Who made that decision? Middle aged men with insulated jobs and pensions

Well folks, it’s been a tough 15 months, but I’d like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the real heroes of the pandemic.

The ones who have kept their own jobs while calling for the closure of other people’s jobs and businesses.

You’ve played a strong part in making this happen.

    Take a bow.

Absolutely shocking leadership now . We have a Cowardly Taoiseach , and a bunch of spineless TDs and Ministers

People on here who were saying "Look at (e.g.) Denmark - they have indoor dining - why can't we do that?"

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,899 ✭✭✭Peter Flynt

Donnelly appears to have confirmed that NPHET's advice on international travel will be to ignore negative PCR tests prior to travel and go against the EU's digital travel cert which comes into effect on 1st July.

Remember when people were ridiculed for saying this summer would be more restricted than last?

    Ha.

    I do.

Fairly certain you did ridicule them yourself though!

    All is forgiven now anyway;)

I second that, many of them pontificating here all too often are damn quite today!!

What's the plan for pushing back on opening indoor dining? Are they going to vaccinate the younger people at all? Their only way of doing things is closing businesses but no word on extra vaccinations.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭Swaine

Only country in Europe to enforce MHQ, it’ll allow us to open sooner they said.

Now the only country in Europe where you can’t have a drink or meal indoors.

You’d be forgiven for thinking there was a hidden agenda to all this madness.

    Embarrassment of a country.
