Why is Ireland's buy-to-let rate so high?

    Why are we so far above established European powers? Is it simply a shortage? Or a reflection of how difficult stuff is for landlords here? Relatively more expensive mortgages?

    I'm assuming we'll get in line with the others soon - trying to figure out if the rent will slump or prices will simply rise to get there...

    You realise that article is 3yrs old. Its from 2018. Lots of things have happened since then.

    I'd say an easy guess would be a combination of the lower standards required for build-to-rent properties, and the very high prices on rent compared to the interest repayments on building.
