    Hello Offalians

I visit Co Offaly regularly and have often noticed Croghan dominating the skyline.
What's the best way to climb up it? I presume one can get to the top?
Is there a footpath, or is it a question of scrambling through fields?

Google maps Satellite View doesn't seem to show any access road.

I bet the views are spectacular!

Any help from local knowledge please?

The easiest access is to climb the hill is to park outside the old croghan stores
R35 A2C5 and walk half a mile up the laneway across the road and where theroad wheels to the right, go through the gate/fields straight up.
Fantastic views from the top across the bog, there is an old graveyard on one side, near the top.
You could also park at the graveyard heading towards Rhode, head towards
St. Patricks Well, long, rocky road up to the well and a lot steeper climb.
    Enjoy.
